Paula Deen Buttering Up Al Roker Before Her Today Tell-All!? Get Her Planned Apology Deets HERE!

paula deen racism n word al roker today personal apology

This Southern girl cooked herself up one hot mess!!

After admitting to using the N-word several times and being subsequently fired from her TV gigs, Paula Deen realizes she has some explaining to do!

Unless she cancels on Matt Lauer again, the celebrity chef plans to speak her mind on Wednesday's Today.

Before that, though, Paula intends to speak with weatherman and co-anchor Al Roker. As he's the cast's highest profile African American, Paula feels she owes Al a special apology!

More than that, she feels crummy crumb-y about possibly offending him, especially considering the bond they share over their weight struggles!!

An insider close to the situation revealed:

“Paula has told producers and Matt Lauer, that she would like to personally apologize to Al Roker before going on the air. This is something that Paula wants to do, and is very important to her. She values Al and has tremendous respect for him. They both have a lot in common, their battle of the bulge, a love of food and family. Paula has been extremely emotional since making headlines last week, and she is ready to take responsibility for her actions. She has been physically sickened but has no intentions of backing out of the interview, and is ready to answer the tough questions.”

We're happy Paula is handling the heat instead of getting out of the kitchen, but Al doesn't seem to give two sharts about their personal bond!

He thinks her betrayal was to the American public!

The insider continued:

[Al doesn't] think it’s necessary for Paula to apologize to him….This isn’t about Al. She doesn’t owe him anything, but he is a gentleman, and a very forgiving person, and will listen to what Paula has to say. Al thinks it’s more important that Paula explain her actions to the American public.”

It's clear Paula doesn't intend to take our advice and lay low, but, who knows, maybe America takes pity on her after all?!

We'll find out together mañana!

still have not heard of any rappers coming forward with an apology for using the N word so why should paula???

Perez, take off your white hood and lay down your torch; foregive her for the comment she made in the 1980's. Holding on to your hatred is not good.

the more she says sorry the more theyll crucify her … Re: The Matrix – HAHAHAHAA

Al was the one who said publicly that he considers Paula a friend of the show and his. He said he's known her for a while and that she shouldn't worry about being attacked when she comes on the show, but that they need to address it. He is a gentleman. I too like some others who commented don't like rappers or anyone else using the N word. No matter what the excuse it is wrong…but Al's correct she needs to explain herself and give a public apology.

I love how the media likes to stir the pot when they start noticing diversity and other of different races, genders etc. starting to get along. And then BAM! Lets dig up Paula Deens past. Look, I'm black ….and yo! I'm surprised I'm taking up for her, but the way they (the media) went about attacking her was ratchet. She's from the south, and pretty much half of Americans (Either it be white, gay, non-African American Hispanics, Mexicans, East Indians, or Asians) have used the N-word in the past! And I bet I'm good friends (unknowingly) to those who've used it. My point: "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone" I most certainly support her because all y'all (Media….including you Perez)are hypocrites. Just using this whole situation to cause discourse against the possibility of diversity. She said she was sorry . Get on with it. This sounds like yet another witch hunt… But just like with Martha Stewart, her own people are trying to get her. of diversity. She said she was sorry . Get on with it. Re: Dev – yeah, Paula Dean and Al have a friendly friendship. So why are folks surprised? Cause they're pretending to be that's why. And the use of the N-Word that "some" blacks (not all of then, cause I don't) like to sayid dumb when they defend the use of using it. When white folks in the slave days gave that name to us. Didn't they see roots!? Kunta kintay for the longest refused to use the name Toby. But blacks now days are willing to just lay down and accept that name? That's some BS excuse…

Re: babydoll64 – I'm not saying that it's right, but blacks using the n-word amongst themselves started awhile back in the 60's and 70's. They felt by using the word amongst their own kind (Since whites were using it negatively towards them anyway) it would lessen the power and pain of that word. The word eventually became apart of their slang and, in a weird way, a term of endearment….depending on how you see it. Paula Deen, obviously, meant it in a derogatory way….to insult and to hurt. I am not okay with anyone using the word, black or white, as it is dehumanizing and still causes pain when said, especially in the way that she used it. I feel that blacks, and yes I am black but don't use the word, feel they have the right to use the word because the word was, particularly, used to insult and degrade black people. Also, the fact that she, allegedly, used these words towards her black employees and made a comment about having blacks dressed as slaves at a plantation wedding doesn't help her case.

What Paula Deen needs to do is shut her pie. She's doing no good to herself opening her stupid mouth. Submit a written apology and go away quietly for a little bit. Only reason she's begging is to keep the ca$h flowing.

Enough of all this already. It's been blown way out of proportion and is getting ridiculous. It's making the American ppl look even more stupid then they already are, if that is even possible. Turn on any hip hop song and you will hear that bad, naughty word for sure. I was just at the grocery store and 2 guys were walking out of the store and they both confronted another man walking into the store with "Hey n—– what's up" but that's all right???? Double standards here ppl, double standards. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Re: MyName – Interesting remark. As a black person, as you have described yourself, I would like to ask you your opinion to get further Insights into your comment. You stated that blacks started calling themselves the n word to lessen the power and pain of that word. So, by that logic, isn't the very essense of being in an uproar, disgruntled, anger, what have you, at the use of this word by a white person actually ADDING power and pain? Are they just perpetuating the hurtful nature of that word? I am not saying to excuse the behavior, but when someone ALLOWS a name to hurt them, aren't they bringing pain to themselves? As a woman, and for no good reason, as well as my mother, cousins, etc, are assaulted with negative words by others, including those of color, teenagers, and any others with the basic lack of propriety or decency. Their behavior is not excused, however, we don't allow anger to creep up, or depression based off of a chosen word. Because we don't ALLOW for that language to have power over us. And I certainly would not call my mother a b i t c h just so it can be apart of our slang and used as an endearment. It does not change the meaning of the word. And, it's just not decent. What are your thoughts on this? Please educate me.

  13. 13

Perez: are you the speech police for the USA? In Cuba or Venezuela what happens to people when they speak up. Do you want the USA to be like this, no 1st Amendment? People kidnapped/disappearing in the middle of the night, their house's power or water shut off permanently, their possessions/property taken away.

  14. 14

Omg it was awfu. It was a trainwreck. I'm not surprised that after interview, over 80% of people weren't buying what she was selling. Perez was right. Just stfu.

Re: Need your opinion – Well, first, let me be clear that I am not excusing anyone on usage of that word…black or white. I was saying what was told to me by others of my race as to why they use the word. My family doesn't use the word amongst each other as slang or a term of endearment, and I don't either. I never said that I agreed with the reasons as to why other blacks use the word. My comment was only stating why SOME black people (not ALL) feel that they can use that word and no one else can. I agree with you when you say that using it in slang…or as a term of endearment doesn't change the meaning. It's a hurtful word.
