Get over it Perez! Love, love, love and support Paula! I have seen the mean and hateful things that you have said in the past and people called you on it. You should know better.

This isn't about a casual use of the N-word. This is about Paula being told REPEATEDLY that discriminatory practices were being used in her restaurants and she did nothing. She was told by the general manager, accountant, the Director of Operations, the lawyer, and even an outside consulting firm that she was violating TONS of labor laws!

Those violations include, but aren't limited to:
*using racist language directed at employees (including an email to staff using the slur)
*her brother was physically assaulting staff
*he made sexual advances on employees,
    *he wouldn’t promote women
*he had unequal pay for women vs. men
*he only allowed light skinned staff to be up front
*he made black workers enter from the back of the building (even to pick up checks)
*he had separate bathrooms for white and black employees
*He distributed p0rn at manager meetings

Paula participated in many of these actions and was told about them by her general manager, her accountant, her lawyers, an outside consulting firm, etc. She was told verbally and in writing. These actions were witnessed by multiple people, some caught on video and email.

By not stopping these actions after being told repeatedly, she was approving, condoning and encouraging these illegal activities.

    Perez,

Remember about two years ago when you were one of the nastiest bloggers around? Celebrities used to cringe when you'd post about them, because you said hateful, nasty, obscene things about them? Well, you've seemed to change, and this was only two years ago. These claims about Paula, are from 30 years ago. It's time to quit the badgering. Stop being a jerk.

I'm 64 and grew up in the south too. But saying she only said the word one time in her life, is BS. Using the N-word was part of just about every white person's vocabulary. But as I grew up I learned that saying that word was harmful and hateful and stopped using it well before I was the age that she admitted to saying the word. Thirty years ago is a very long time ago, so give her some slack, UNLESS and it's a big UNLESS, her new court case proves that she is really racist. Then the hell with her.

So how are the words she said any different from all the rappers and what not that say that very word in all of their songs?! I'm not saying its ok but come on peopleits not like she's the ONLY person ever to say those things! Just because she's somewhat of a celebrity doesn't mean she should be persecuted so harshly for things she did or said years ago. This whole thing it quite ridiculous and has absolutely been blown way out of proportion! There's so many things going on that are way more important than one woman's words spoken years ago!

Re: Chandler02 you are right. The media and Paula fans are trying to confussed the issue. Her pr team are doing damage control by clouding the issues.

Hold everyone to the same standard or hold none. Perez, take of your white sheet and put down your torch. Your hatred is as ugly as anyone elses.

  14. 14

This bitch keeps playing the victim wronged by the media and public, oh my. Poor soul.

  15. 15

victimized????? you are more guilty than Paula Deen, she has a great many redeeming qualities and you have, wait a minute, NONE!

@chandler02 thank you! We must two of the few people that actually read the entire deposition instead of hollywood gossip sites! there is alot more to it than her admitting to using the word 30 years ago after being robbed by a black man! (which I doubt is the only time that word slipped out of her mouth) that is not the only accusation against her. that part is not the big issue here. most questions asked that would have put her in an even worse light were answered "I don't know. I don't recall. I'm not sure. I don't remember. I wasn't around for that so I wouldn't know" she is being praised for admitting one thing while skipping over a whole list of other wrong doings she "can't remember" or "does't recall"

more recent wrong doings might I add.

Yeah, I bet the "victims" are really traumatized . She has apologized multiple times, whether you choose to believe her or not is your problem. Everyone needs to get over it and move on. Perez, you should really choose your words more wisely. It wasn't long ago that you were an absolute BULLY! This woman makes one mistake that she obviously wholeheartedly regrets, and no one can cut her a break? This was completely blown out of proportion and you seem to be loving every second of it. How sad.

  20. Lisa says – reply to this

    20

Did you or did you not call someone a derogatory gay slur 2 or 3 years ago? This woman said this over 30 years ago. Get off your high horse Perez. Your fake attitude is way worse than Paula.

  21. 21

    Re: heather – agree

  22. 22

Re: heather – No dear, it's much much more than her use of the word. It's her blatant bigotry by boasting she wanted to have a plantation themed wedding, with black servers as slaves. I mean do you really need me to explain to you what is wrong with that? It's the way her african american employees were treated at her establishment. The deposition is disgusting, and anyone who feels sorry for this low life piece of trash is just as ignorant as she is. I do not care how old she is or where she is from. Ignorance is ignorance and wrong is wrong. It's MUCH more than her use of the N word, much more.

  23. Nicole says – reply to this

    23

So what some of you are saying is Paula is the only person ever to do or say these things?? I believe not ! If they are going to rake her over the coals they should do the same with all the rappers that make similar remarks and say far worse things and not only rappers there have been numerous celebrities do and say things that are as racist as it gets! I feel that they are taking a well known woman and trying to make an example of her mostly because she is from the south. This thing is being made into something far worse than it really is there's so many more pressing and more important issues going on in the world that what woman said, again this has become absolutely ridiculous!

  24. 24

Actions speak louder than words and although she may have uttered the dreaded N word, I have yet to see her disrespect any race in any other way, nor has anyone else come forward to support the claim that she is a racist. I would think now would be the time to do it. I would think all these people that she has treated badly would stand up and say "enough", yet all I see is one person crying foul and holding her hand out for the payday. I am on the fence with this. When I see more than the N word and more people come forward, I will believe it then. Until that happens, this is a pretty shitty way for people to act.

  25. 25

This is a God-send for the government. Let's capitalize on Paula Deen saying the dreaded n-word 30 years ago, that way everyone will forget about being spied on and that little voting rights act oops….
