Dexter's possible death has been hinted at by much of the final season's promotional material. But will it really happen? Or do they just want to keep us on our toes?
What if the serial killer's eventual demise has always been planned??
Michael C. Hall has been thinking about it since the first time he did one of Dex's iconic voice-overs! He says:
"I’ve also wondered where this voice-over coming from. Who is he talking to? Early on, I imagined Dexter had died and he had gone to purgatory and they were playing back footage of his life and he had to narrate the footage in such a way that justify his admittance into heaven. I don’t know if I believe in heaven or hell, but it was fun to think about."
The writers have taken their cues from Michael's ideas before. Will they on this one? Of course he won't tell us the ending for sure.
But does Dexter himself like the ending? Michael says:
"I do! I’m pleased. I’m intrigued and compelled where things are headed… I’m along for the ride."
Well, we guess we'll just have to enjoy the ride along with him- even if it ends in a fatal crash!
