Paula Deen Buttered Up By Former President Jimmy Carter: 'My Heart Goes Out To Her'

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooPolitikPaula Deen

Former President Jimmy Carter might not wield much political power these days, but when it comes to Georgia he's still the voice of authority.

So with the great state's celebrity chef Paula Deen falling on hard times after admitting under oath to using a horrendously offensive word, we weren't surprised President Carter shared his opinion!

Amongst other things, he says:

"My heart goes out to her, but there's of course no condoning the use of a word that abuses other people."

Ch-ch-check out the interview (above)!

We understand the sentiment! It's hard watching anyone take this much heat, but she brought it on herself with her reprehensible behavior!

There is NO EXCUSE for using the N-word or joking about plantation-themed weddings staffed by African Americans dressed up as slaves. Not ever.

After all the derogatory things you have said and drawn on people - you are pointing out her reprehensible behavior, really????? So many who are condemning her are so hypocritical - Rev Jesse jackson slurred Jews - but I guess they are not enough of a minority to count - everyone has said things they regret - too much made of this whole thing - should just let her be . . .

While I don't agree with what she did, it was quite a while ago. I understand her getting heat, but now I feel like she is just getting picked on. Like I said, it makes sense that she is getting dropped by companies, but I feel bad seeing her everywhere crying. I don't think she is a bad person, annoying… yes, but not a bad person. I just think she grew up in an area where that word was used a lot and unfortunately she followed the same path as using it. What she said was more out of ignorance than hate.

Before you side with Paula, you have to read the case complaint. This is the reason why all of these businesses are pulling out. Her brother basically terrorized his employees with her blessing. ( atlawblog. com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Jackson-v.-Deen-et-al.-Complaint.pdf) I had to put spaces in around atlawblog or else it wouldn't post

Re: OMG why – Have you read the full disposition. The employee changed the story completely and even said she owed Paula and her brother her life after being a homeless teen and they gave her a job. You clearly haven't read the whole thing. Just another person out for money. Paula admitted she was wrong she has said sorry like 50 times now. Everyone should just leave her alone. Even with the companies dumping her she is still filthy rich and people will continue to support her restaurant. She will be just fine.

Re: … – Judy Smith is that you??? I'm reading her full deposition right now (God I love the internet), and I don't see what you're saying. Page number? The one I'm reading is 281 pages.

Re: … – I have read the deposition, and it's Bubba showing bad behavior not Paula. Paula happens to own 51% of his business, because she "put' him in the business. As one writer said, "this was more out of ignorance than hatred". I think Paula Deen is a fine, caring, great person, and I just hope she will come out of this, and continue her life as before.

Re: mamanelle5 – Paula was Commander in Chief. She set the tone that allowed all of that craziness to go on. When someone messes up the in government, people want to blame Obama who is going to have a lot less oversight, why would you not put any responsibility on Paula??

Re: OMG why – I'm sorry that I don't agree with you, but this is a free country, and we both can express our opinions. I'm not perfect, and neither are you.

Paula Deen is not going through this cuz this is her first racial slur but mor like like her 5th or 6th racial comment pubically and I believe Paula didn't expect to be called out on it and she was. Unfortunately since Paula didn't have people working with her who would tell her right from wrong, it has finally caught up with her. Paula knows she has gotten away with these comments for years
