It's difficult for a girl to be around boys anymore. They see this crap and think all females are bitch dogs and make fun of us and it's dangerous for them to rape us. In the military they give females rape whistles and they have to carry rifles just to go to the bathroom. To protect them, not from the enemy, but their own side. If you get drunk or are drugged at a party, they rape you and post it on utube. They are devolving us. Worse, some girls, too many let themselves go insane. Everybody knows I'd you reach 30 you are 'used up,' and if you do not speak out against it, you are part of the problem.

Tunnel vision for what? Boobs?? I agree with Default Setteen this type of content, whatever form it's, movies, music videos, magazines, pornos, etc. is not making the world a better, safer or happier place for us women trying to live in it.. Desensitizing men, and even women, to the fact that women are Human and not just things with boobs, is not a good way forward!

I think this whole video doesn't make sense. I mean even if you can miraculously get past the "woman are objects" thing, Justin Timberlake is a married man! If he made this song thinking ofmJessica Biel, who in my opinion is the only woman he should have "tunnel vision" for, why in the world would he make a video for it depicting not one, but THREE other naked women? *sigh* Also I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure one of those "dancers" is Fo from America's Next Top Model. #whatasellout

This is basically the (more) douchey version of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines. I don't understand what the obsession with objectifying women in videos is. I'm not trying to preach to the masses but someone needs to tap these male popstars (ohh sorry, "soul" artists) & remind them that there's more to women than just a pair of tits. Justin looks like a complete perv in this video & his face is in full on douche mode. His music is basic but sadly the uninformed public eats it up. This is garbage!

This video actually made me feel physically ill. What is wrong with our society? How long have women fought to be treated as equals!!! Shame on you Justin Timberlake!!! Disgusting!!! How do we expect the men of the next generation to respect women when they are treated like animals by our pop culture? Sad :( How could he go home after shooting this video and look his wife in the eyes? Just wait until he has a few teenage daughters……

  17. Default Setteen says – reply to this

    17

At what age do we tell our daughters to sublimate their souls? Toddler and tiaras age? In time for Halloween at 2 or 3 when the only costumes are specified princess or witches with heels and fishnets? When shall we point out the few women that have 'made it' without using their bodies are called ugly, fat and unattractive? How do we explain to them they can expect to fatten their lips with butt fat and fatten their bust and rears with collegen?
Shall we tell them how lucky they are that marriage is over and not to expect if they did marry, to expect that husband to help them raise their children, because they the girls, will have grown too old and will be discarded. Shall we convince them they are so lucky to be modern and equal and what age do we tell them to twerk it and shake their money makers and hope to get a ride in somebody else's car, drink a little champagne and do drugs enough to forget they even had a soul, hopes and dreams. Oh, and let's legalize prostitution, by all means, as the u.n. is forcing on all countries. Let's shift whole countries to the next and hawk them off for money.

    Just let me liberate you
    You don't need no papers
That man is not your mate
And that's why I'm gon' take you

Robin Thicke is always being accused of copying Justin Timberlake but now we see that Justin is copying Robin. It's just the other way around.

  23. 23

And the point of this video is? Tunnel vision for one woman translates into multiple naked women dancing how?

  24. mary glasgow says – reply to this

    24

Stop this NOW. Is this the next phase of what we can expect in film clips? Women naked now? Why aren't the men naked? This is not OK, girls are being affected by this rubbish. Respect is being slowly eroded thanks to this kind of video. Where's his respect for his wife? I can't believe Justin and Robin Thicke's video. Please stop this.

  25. 25

This pig has no respect for his wife and how original exploiting women and treating them like dirt. We have a huge problem with rape and domestic violence but don't worry yourself Justin women are there for your pathetic needs.

  26. 26

Re: Default Setteen – You're an idiot. No one sees a naked body and instantly thinks it's ok to rape a female..Again, you're a moron and you're one of the million reasons why feminism isn't taken seriously.

Re: JJ – These women KNOWINGLY AND WILLINGLY objectify themselves for monetary gain and exploit their sex appeal. Please go up to an attractive girl that gets paid more in a day than you do an entire year and ask her what she thinks about being objectified. She'll laugh at you. Trust me, I've actually asked this question. It seems to me the people whining about objectification are generally always unattractive and not objectified in the slightest.

  27. 27

Re: anemov – So a naked girl = Rape? You're a moron. Exploiting women? These women knowingly and willingly exploit their looks and sex appeal for monetary gain. Having a girl topless in a music video does not promote sexual assault and rape..Are you retarded? Serious question.

I thought overall the video was cheesy. If he wants to get my attention…I want to see HIM sans clothes dancing! Sell yourself man!

  30. 30

Robin Thicke's video is unique because Robin and Pharrell are right there dancing next to the girls. Justin Timberlake's video the girls were obviously filmed seperately and added later, probably AFTER the Blurred Lines Video was shown

TELEVISION, MUSIC, MOVIES, INTERNET ARE ALL JUST FILLED WITH CONSTANT STEREOTYPES THAT FILL PEOPLE'S MINDS WITH LIES AND PROPAGANDA MAKING THEM ZOMBIES. THE WORLD BRAINWASHES PEOPLE FROM THE DAY THEY'RE BORN SO THEY SLOWLY BEGIN TO MIMIC WHAT THEY SEE AND LISTEN TO EVERY DAY, AND MOST PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID THEY ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT THEY GET TO "CHOOSE" THEIR OWN THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS, WHEN IT'S ACTUALLY JUST ALL THE STUFF THEY'VE VIEWED THROUGHOUT THEIR LIFETIME THAT IS MAKING THEM ACT THAT WAY. I WILL NEVER BRING SOME INNOCENT SOUL TO THIS WORLD, AND PEOPLE WHO CHOOSE TO HAVE KIDS ARE COMPLETE NARCISSISTIC MORONS, ONLY HAVING KIDS SO THEY FEEL IMPORTANT IN SOME WAY, NOT CARING ABOUT ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS THEIR KIDS (ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE GIRLS) ARE GOING TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE. WE ARE TRULY LIVING IN THE "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE" RIGHT NOW.

    37

As i female, i didnt feel objectified. Our bodies are beautiful. The world needs to stop being afraid of boobs. An exposed boob should never be the 'reason for rape'. That's putting the blame back on women. Come on people. Its more complex then naked bodies.

I did however feel the video lacked concept. At least Blurred Lines risqué video matched the lyrics or idea behind the song. This video looked like Justin had 2 hours to film and was stolen from tour projector footage. With all the camera/movie set lyrics references, I thought the treatment would be better. Also agree with the whole should have just had one main girl.

Still one of my favourite songs on 20/20.

And Justin can still get it.

Or how about the young girls who are stripped nude and anally probed in front of their fellow classmates, which is occurring with more and more frequency, that boobies are fun? Or how about 2 or 3 year olds wearing wigs and false teeth and so much make up you can't see their face as they twerk it onstage?

I am so happy that so many commenters on this mainstream, pop culture site see that objectifying women is not in line with true feminism. I've held this sentiment for some time, and have felt alone or, at least, outnumbered and radicalized. There is no way that that video could ever make women feel empowered, or men feel more apt to respect women; in fact, the effect is quite the opposite. Thank you for posting, and keep voicing this perspective :)

  42. Can't Believe My Eyes says – reply to this

    42

I cannot believe this video. First off, how in the hell are they going to be able to play this on television with all the nudity??? Secondly, DO BETTER??? I don't understand why his "Tunnel Vision" is solely focused on the woman's body. This is such a shame JT especially because I love this song as well as your album. This video deeply saddens me. For everyone one step forward we are taking two steps backwards. Objectification of women is occurs too frequently in our society. No, a woman cannot objectify herself. Objectification by definition means treating a person as a tool or object to be used. When a women are constantly asked and requested to do nude or topless scenes such as the ones in this video, women are seen as nothing more as sexual OBJECTS to be USED. Objectification leads to rape culture. When a man sees a woman as nothing more than a tool used for his sexual pleasures instead of as a person you can bet that rape will happen more frequently. It is on us as a SOCIETY to respect one another. Responsibility falls on the industry, media, teachers, parents and other role models to be just that, role models. People constantly speak of how this generation is going to hell well what are you doing to prevent it. What are YOU doing to help???

Re: unmade_bed – It makes me happy too. There is this cultural lacking where we have the very leaders of our country supporting this a skewed version of female objectification stereotypes (thinking of jz and beyonce at the white house) and the trash that turned out for 'female empowerment' recently. Such a joke. They'll be legalizing prostitution soon. The u.n. is already strong arming nations into it.

Re: Default Setteen – I understand what you are saying but my body or the video are not at fault. It's the mentality that is wrong and that's where the focus should be. A female should not be seen as a tool regardless of what she wears or doesnt wear. If rape % go up bc of a Justin Timberlake video then there is a way bigger issue at hand.

  46. alex says – reply to this

    46

Re: NookiesWA – Preach. Take the rape blame away from our bodies and women. There's a bigger issue at hand.

  47. 47

Don't care for the song - but good to see Timbaland back. I was wondering what happened to him - hadn't seen him since he worked with Madonna back in 2008.

  48. 48

I actually really like the Robin Thicke Song and video because it's not to be taken seriously. This isn't that bad, but in my opinion would have made more sense with only ONE girl, since it's about having tunnel vision for one person. It would have been even greater if that one girl was his wife.

Re: Lady Amalthea – Explain that to 12 year old boys sitting around watching it and how they treat a 12 year old girl, entering the room afterwards and remember these boys will be carrying these thoughts with them for the rest of their lives. Picture 12 year old girls watching it and how they are 'learning.'

  50. 50

Re: Default Setteen – It's not a video 12 year olds should be allowed to watch. It's clearly not targeted towards them. However, as a parent of two boys myself, I would sit them down and explain. You know why? because that is called PARENTING. It's a parents job to teach their kids these things. I learned it, and I'm sure my kids are capable of learning it as well.

I'm at a loss for words..on one hand it felt like art but on the other hand I do think about children looking at this without proper guidance. It doesn't make me want to rape a woman nor does it make me think less of a woman because the female anatomy is beautiful but its definitely raunchy to some degree. The internet is truly not a safe place for kids regardless. Its so easy to find sexually charged things here..sign of the times…

    53

I don't expect 12-year-old girls or boys to gain a moral foundation from watching a Justin Timberlake video nor do I expect or hold Justin Timberlake responsible for giving it to them. I do expect their PARENTS or parental figures to do as much. This is what bothers me about the whole "role model" thing. It's good to have role models but, more and more people nowadays expect everyone else to raise their children for them: teachers, celebrities, the woman in the corner. And it's not all their fault. We live in a fast paced world where sometimes parents are super busy and barely get to see their children.

You know, I can like a Rihanna song and yet not agree personally with every decision she makes in her personal life or every opinion she puts forward, but that's just it, it's HER life. I don't put her on a pedestal because she's a celebrity because that does not make her "flawless", she's still as human to me as anyone else. I don't expect less from her, I just don't see her as an almighty infallible goddess and define my life by her.

  54. meme says – reply to this

    54

My parental figures (my mother died when I was young and my dad was absent) taught me critical thinking and to have a mind of my own so when I am exposed to this "big, bad world" I can think and act for myself and if necessary, protect myself. I'm 29 years old. I grew up in an oversexualized, violence desensitized culture/world, yet I'm not a prostitute or addicted to drugs, etc., and I don't always jump to conclusions about people who are. I think about context and circumstances, which is what I learned from my "parents" and by my own damn self because I had to go through some pretty harsh circumstances. And I CAN be judgmental at times. The world is not black and white and kids aren't all as stupid and gullible as they're made out to be. Kids shouldn't be taught that or treated as such.

As for the video, it's a bit, well A LOT "Blurred Lines" to me. The song is fine. I hope and think there'll be a parental warning and a censured version for the kiddies.

Re: alex – I thought I was the only one. I didn't feel objectified at ALL watching this. The real problem is that people can't see a female body without feeling like they're being objectified. That's a pretty idiotic sentiment considering people protest shirtless to somehow prove the opposite point. You can't assume he's being misogynistic just because he's a man. Also:

    1. This is much better than Blurred Lines because the women aren't dancing for the men on the video. They're just dancing.

    2. There's no way he did this for money because no mainstream music program can play this as is. I'm pretty sure he did it to showcase the beauty of the female body.

    3. You shouldn't be ashamed every time you see a female body. Some people just really love the female form. I think it's better in it's purest form than in the ridiculous clothes they usually put dancers in in most videos.

In conclusion, everybody just needs to calm the fuck down.

    WELL SAID, THANK YOU!

    Also, everybody needs to remember:

Entertainment is entertainment, crime is crime. Not once in this video did I see the words "RAPE IS GOOD" flash across the screen. And wtf would this video have to do with that? Some of you really need to just calm the fuck down, and shut the fuck up if you don't like it and go watch a fucking Disney movie, because there's absolutely no objectifying of women in any of those (if you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic), who I might remind you are targeted at children as the main demographic. This is an adult video, made by adults, for adults.

and just so you know, prostitution was one of the foundations of America. back then, women did it because it was the number one way to earn an independent living. now, women have the choice. and if we, as women, have a choice, and choose to do what we please with our bodies, whether it be parading naked in movies/videos, posing for nude photographs, selling our bodies, or concealing every inch of our figure, it's still OUR CHOICE, because GOD BLESS AMERICA. sheesh.
