George Zimmerman Found NOT GUILTY In Trayvon Martin Trial!!!

george zimmerman found not guilty trayvon martin trial

Shocking. Absolutely shocking.

The jury in the George Zimmerman case has rendered a NOT GUILTY verdict of second-degree murder in the sad fatal shooting of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

The 6-women jury deliberated for 16 hours and 20 minutes over a span of two days before they finally reached their verdict just a few moments ago.

They had been given the chance to convict Zimmerman of manslaughter, but decided not to despite their earlier request for a clarification of the charge earlier in the evening.

Zimmerman had pleaded not guilty, claiming he shot the unarmed teen in self defense.

Wow…

Watching the trial, being impartial. I would have voted not guilty. It's so sad a family lost a child. Sad a man will have to live the rest of his life looking behind his back. Nobody wins here. Sadder still is that people will continue screaming that the decision was based on race. There were mistakes made on both the prosecution & defense sides but at the end of the day, reasonable doubt existed. RIP Trayvon and may both families & George find peace.

Not shocking at all. Never should've gone to trial. Those shocked by this have no clue.

To anyone who think it's good Zimmerman got off, just imagine if Trayvon was a woman being followed by a strange man, who attacked back in defense. I'm sure you'd be okay Zimmerman walking free then, too.

Shocking, what is shocking, that justice prevailed ?
What was shocking is that Zimmermann was ever charged,
If you were on community watch, and you knew there had been several breakins, robberies in the gated complex, that eye witnesses have identified as black males and than you see a tall black guy scurrying about in the shadows, yes you should be suspicious
What was shocking is that Obama put his two cents into this by claiming, if he had a son he would look like Trevon, what about all of his other sons and daughters who get shot up weekly in Chicago ?
What is shocking the the prosecutors with held evidence

I hope Zimmermann now goes after Spike Less and the others who slandered him

Although the media may have tried this case in the court of public opinion….watching the trial…the prosecution FAILED to provide "beyond a reasonable doubt" (which our justice system is built upon). Failed to address gaps of 4 minutes of time…failed to address the fact that he was on the ground when he shot.

You're obviously white and have never stared rascism in the face. This guy shot an unarmed kid! UNARMED! HE followed him HE attacked him. HE is TWICE Trayvons age! How many 30 something year olds do you think can get beaten a overpowered by 16/17 year olds?! So it's ok for this guy to shoot an unarmed kid?! You are an idiot! The last I checked a gun does far more damage than a fist does. I don't give a crap what you say this guy got away with murder! If GZ was a black man named Jermone Smith and TM was a white kid named Alex Westbrook and this happend they would have buried him under the prison! This thing happens all the time! You are in short company here if you think that the outcome of this case is in anyway OK!

I just saw Al Sharpton on TV,
the man looks like he is about to die, he has lost so much weight, bones poking out of his face, sagging skin, looks awful
Instead of trying to make amends for all the trouble he has caused with Tawana Brawley, Duke LaCrosse, Zimmermann etc , that trouble maker is at it again
If there is a hell, Al will fry in it

    16

Making this simply about race is ridiculous. Someone beatIng on your with their fists and you cannot get them off of you…next level of defense…which in this case was a gun.

  17. Bren says – reply to this

    17

I was all for finding GZ guilty at first. After watching the trial and hearing about the dirt on the kid, I was on the fence on GZ's guilt. Not because he was innocent, but because it was a difficult case to prove given the lack of witnesses.

  18. 18

Re: Mary Johnson – Even if "Self Defense" he should have gotten time. he killed and UNARMED BOY. Not a man but a boy. There are women who get life in prison for killing their abusive husbands but a grown ass man defied the 911 operator, got out of his vehicle and approached a boy he assumed was dangerous and then KILLED him in "self defense" is okay?

People say that Zimmerman shot this guy because he was black. But tomorrow EVERY black person in America is going to be against this man tomorrow…just because he is NOT black. That is racist!!!!! That's the case and that is the truth. America is fucked and is going down a damn drain. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Zimmerman was innocent and it needs to be recognized. Black, white, meixcan…this man is INNOCENT. It is a great day in America for this jury actually having common sense.

  24. 24

I bet if it would have been a white guy in a hoodie things would've been very different, no matter what people say this was all based on race, I mean come on it all started because the guy was black and wearing a hoodie. race aside he shot to kill a guy who was unarmed if it really was self defense he should have shot him somewhere else just to stop him, and if he would've just reported it to the cops and not anything none of this would've happened, he must've had the same jury as OJ and Casey Anthony

    26

Re: BubblezYo – It is all speculation and at this point is has become a case based on race. Just like the presidential election. All the facts and evidence is irrelevant because people are too concerned about how Martin was black and Zimmerman was Mexican. If it was two white men, the verdict should have been the same. If it was two black men, the verdict should have been the same. Take race out of this!

  27. 27

Re: JMonster796 – You actually have no idea what my ethnicity is so don't assume. This is an example of what your problem is - you assume things instead of paying attention to facts. And the facts of this case didn't support a manslaughter or murder conviction. There was reasonable doubt created and if you were able to watch the entire trial and were able to put your racial biases aside, you would have seen that. Instead, you resort to name calling, e-yelling and basing your opinion on racial hatred. I hope you mature someday and are able to put your bigotry aside.

IDK about anyone else but if im in a vehicle and I see a dangerous looking person id drive away or stay in my vehicle with the doors locked. If he would have never stepped out of his vehicle, as directed by the operator this would have never happened.

The community hadn't been previously burglarized by pregnant women, toddlers or overweight caucasians. To play the 'what if' game is irrelevant and the jury dealt with 'what was'.

“It is more important that innocence be protected than it is that guilt be punished, for guilt and crimes are so frequent in this world that they cannot all be punished. But if innocence itself is brought to the bar and condemned, perhaps to die, then the citizen will say, "whether I do good or whether I do evil is immaterial, for innocence itself is no protection," and if such an idea as that were to take hold in the mind of the citizen that would be the end of security whatsoever." - John Adams

No one should feel that their life is in danger based on an act of self defense, regardless of if he was a kid or not. Look it up, plenty of kids way younger than Martin have been convicted, not charged, of murder. Age has nothing to do with it. Neither does race.

If you watched the ENTIRE case, like I did, you would have seen all of the facts, witnesses, evidence and story be told. All of this would equal you agreeing with the verdict. Another point, Zimmerman is hispanic, not white. So stop playing the "a white man shot an innocent black kid" card, it is very untrue. Watch the court, don't read the media.

If you had watched the entire trial proceedings you would know that you are only rambling off what the media is saying & not THE TRUTH. He did NOT attack him, TM punched him first which made GZ fall to the ground. You say a 17yr old couldn't beat up a 30yr old? What if that 17yr old was training in Mixed Martial Arts…b/c TM was! The top bullet forensics person in the field testified that the trajectory of the bullet meant that TM HAD TO BE ON TOP OF GZ.
Honestly, so sick of people being so IGNORANT and just using the MEDIA's story for their defence. Watch the trial it will show you witnesses, experts, evidence. This gives you all you need to know to make a highly educated verdict, which would be NOT GUILTY.

It's screwed up. There are pedophiles that raped children walking among us and continuing to rape and prey on children because we have a screwed up and backward justice system. I don't think this guy had any right to walk into this kids house and shoot him, he was wrong and it's a Tragedy!!! But I am so numb to all the crap that goes on in the world that all I can do is shake my head and hope I am never in the wrong place at the wrong time. No one is safe. We are either killing each other or fearing terrorists or crazy lunatics walking into schools shooting kindergartners. Some of the evil that goes on around us is so sick that I don't think anyone could even make it up.

  88. 88

Re: BubblezYoRe: JMonster796 – A person doesn't have to be armed in order for someone to shoot to kill in self defense making it a justified homicide. The media purposely tried creating a race war and everything else. They only showed Treyvon as an innocent 14 year old kid in every single picture posted of him, but they never showed any pictures taken of him recently, as in being 6'3” with jailhouse looking tats all over his body. Doesn't matter if he's a "kid", a 6'3” kid can seriously harm an adult male.

The public tried and convicted Zimmerman in their eyes he was already guilty without any evidence even being leaked. The ballistics alone would have proven where he was standing where he shot. If the bullet angle was from bottom to top it would suggest he was either on the ground or hunched over in some defensive position. The way the public reacted sending out death threats, and lynch mobs was disgusting.

Zimmerman is half peruvian and half white. not fully hispanic…. an we don't know what what his dominant culture. for all we know he could have not grown up with his peruvian heritage. Maybe the mother was "white washed" for lack of a better term.
But leave race aside he attacked an unarmed teenage boy, he followed him when he was repeatedly told not to. I don't know about you but I'm being followed i would do something to defend myself, and then especially if my attacker was armed. Zimmerman initiated the attack and ended it when he killed trayvon. All of this could have been avoided if Zimmerman would have just followed ORDERS. He is guilty and I hope he never has a decent sleep again in his life. He deserves all the unease he gets.

However if I am attacked I want to be able to defend myself knowing that if the attacker dies I wont be imprisoned for it.

Re: Mary Johnson – it stopped being self defends when he followed the the kid even though he was told not to. And he wasn't on duty that night al he had no right to follow him.

Re: theoz – what he was wearing has ZERO to do with anything. Im 19 and Im pretty positive 99.9% of my generation wears hoodies almost everyday..especially with the popularity of NorthFace right now. So that point was completely irrelevant and just makes you look ignorant. Secondly Yes, technically no laws were broken and the operator doesn't have authority but that does NOT justify him getting out of his vehicle, approaching a stranger he thought was dangerous, while toting a fucking GUN. He was armed. Trayvon was not. Everyone wants to say hes innocent for lack of evidence but thats a load of bull because one thing is clear there was a fight and he killed someone. FOR all we know Trayvon could have broken Zimmermans nose in self defense. The lack of evidence does not excuse the fact that a person is now dead.

I hate saying this but it's right that he goes free. It's not necessarily justice but it is correct legally. The USA needs new gun laws and a federal definition on what counts legally as self-defense to a reasonable measure. It is too easy to own a gun and legally kill another person with it as long as you felt threatened to a point of death from this person. No other defense is needed in most cases other than, "I thought they were going to kill me if I didn't kill them", and that is where the fault is with the American justice system. There is no system when it justice is split between every state instead of having a central definition of legal defenses, and there are no measures to ensure that only mental sound individuals are able to obtain a weapon.

George Zimmerman was a giant puzzay for not fighting Trayvon with fists against fists. GZ was no 60 lb ragdoll. He wasn't going to get brain damage from a 158 lb kid. The fight would have been broken up or fizzle out at some point. GZ won the trial on a technicality but the bottom line is if he wasn't packing, there would only be scrapes, cuts, and a broken nose or two, but TM would still be alive and GZ wouldn't have a target on his back the rest of his life.
