Cory Monteith Was Spotted Drinking Again Days Before His Death

cory monteith death drinking friends

Oh no! Did Cory Monteith fall off the wagon?

The late Glee star checked into his hotel in Vancouver on July 6th- just a week before his death.

According to eyewitnesses, that same day Cory and some friends enjoyed a drink or two at a local coffee house.

Sources say Cory himself drank three beers over the hours that they were there. Nothing remotely excessive, and from all accounts he and his friends remained nice and polite.

This hardly sounds like the kind of binge drinking a former addict should fear, but at the same time, we thought he was trying to stay sober.

Could this have been the first step in a downward slide?

He's dead; Boo-whoo Wah! Get over it. Cancel Glee.

It's his own fault. What an idiot. No sympathy here.

Seems like, if his friends were actually friends, they would have supported his sobriety and not partied with him. Those "friends" need to get high (let's face it, Cory had money and could supply them, and that's what drug friends are for), it cost Cory his life. They hold some responsibility in this. I hope, if nothing else, before they decide to get high again, they stop and think of the damage they caused.

Re: SJ – I hope when someone you know dies, someone comes along and is an asshole to you about it. You fucking internet cowards make me sick.

Seriously, nothing has been said yet. Stop making accusations or saying "sources" have said this and that. If they were actual good "sources" and actually close to him, I'm sure one of them would have tried to stop him if they saw him drinking. You're using his death as a way to make money and that's disgusting.

Pictures or it didn't happen.. "sources" and "eyewitnesses" will say anything without any proof just to make themselves feel that they are "in the know"… NEVER trust anonymous "sources", "eyewitnesses" and "insiders".. the pictures shown DO NOT show Corry with a can or bottle in his hands.

Please, Please Perez, I know you are a big ol' Gleek too! Don't do stories of Cory that talk trash about Cory, especially right now. It is what it is. He's gone & we are all mourning. I know I am not the only one that has come here, because our commonality with you for love of Glee.

    Really Perez…
Cory died, whatever has lead to it, doesn´t matter.
If it was drugs or not is just as sad, because he seemed to be a very nice person and nobody should die that young.
He died alone, in a hotel room, far from any Family or friend, so i think people should be respectful about those things, and respect his memory, his Family, girlfriend and friends.
Stop making gossip over others pain and death.
He was fighting over those problems and not making fun of it like Rihanna does or Amanda Bynes.
He was really fighting it. SO, PLEASE, RESPECT.

    Now people are talking . . . . sad!

F.Y.I. BC liquor laws prohibit the sale of alcohol in "coffee houses" - the only place you can order a beer in Vancouver is at a licensed bar/restaurant.

  11. 11

Where was the 12-Step RELIGIOUS AA/NA CULT'S "HIGHER POWER" he spent so much money for?

  12. 12

How come the 12-Step RELIGIOUS AA/NA CULT'S "HIGHER POWER" failed him?

One drink is too many for an addict…how do some of you not know this? So ignorant about addiction. This man made choices…he died because of them…there are many people that actually WANT to live, but cannot due to cancer or some other disease that they cannot control…This man pissed away his life and his chances to get sober…fool.

  14. 14

The lure of alcohol can be very strong.

    Re: yup
In case you don´t know, addiction is a disease too and once you´re an addicted, you CAN´T CONTROL that easily, no without serious help.
That´s not and excuse, it´s a fact that any doctor can tell you.
Or do you think that people wanna die? Like, see Rihanna, as someone said in the comments.
She uses drug and she likes and make it look like she thinks is the best thing to do ever!
Cory was looking and seeking for help.
    And he was doing it.
In case you did´t see, the photos don´t show him drinking at all.
But, people love to make gossip around something really sad, to take advantage of it

  16. you are a idiot sir says – reply to this

Re: yup – . You are a idiot. A big one. Addict or not he was a person. And a much loved one at that. Whethere you liked him or his decisions. Get some respect. Quit being a keypad warrior, hiding behind your computer screen, writing crap about a man who had died it is disgusting infact your disgusting. Be ashamed and have some respect for the dead. And think about the effect your negative shit can have on his co-stars, friends, family and Lea.

  17. 17

Re: boston61 – his own fault? he had a ADDICTION. do you know anything about that? OBVIOUSLY NOT. I had friends who had a OD and died, and no way in hell I would say what you said. sometimes they keep quiet and can't control it and it goes to far and they pass away.

  18. D says – reply to this

An addict is always an addict…there is no "former" about it. Why can't people make that distinction? An addict will always be an addict. That's why they don't do drugs of any kind or shouldn't. That's one of the main rules of the program. If you have a problem with drugs and/or alcohol you're supposed to avoid all of it. You can say "oh, they went to rehab and its okay if they drink responsibly". NO! It's a disease. If an addict is having 1 drink…that's a bad sign.

Everyone writing these stories really needs to stop and think about what kind of myth they're perpetuating.

Let the coroner ascertain the cause before speculating, as it casts aspersions/shade that may not have anything at all to do with the man's early demise.

  20. Jaqui says – reply to this

For someone who says they love the Glee stars you certainly are smearing this one all over the place. First you report that he's drinking, 3 beers in hours - who are you kidding, that's not "drinking". Then you say all kinds of alcohol was found in his room, but in the article it's one bottle of wine that was probably a gift from the hotel. Love Cory and leave the crap alone, the toxicology report will be out soon enough. My hopes are that there was NOTHING found in his system so that everyone can stop dragging his name through the mud.

  21. Shorty83 says – reply to this

His friends should have not gone to a club with him and party and if he was drinking that bad on them to. It's a sad thing he lost his life and he couldn't get clean for lea and now he's putting her though hell grieving for him.

  22. Nate says – reply to this

Re: D – no, those are the rules and recycled program mantra of AA / NA, etc. Addiction and tendencies with various substances and ability to use one in moderation but not another.. that is very complex and completely individual.
