cory monteith fox execs to decide glee fate

So, so sad.

Following the unspeakably tragic news of Cory Monteith’s death, Fox executives will be meeting today to begin making decisions about Glee’s Season 5 direction

The writers team will be forced to choose how to go about the show’s first two episodes, originally meant to have heavily featured Cory’s return to Glee.

While the network had planned to premiere the show’s fifth season earlier than usual, so as to avoid issues with their post-season baseball broadcasts, it is still unclear whether production — scheduled to begin next week — and the subsequent premiere date will be pushed back.

Stay tuned for more details. But whatever they choose to do, hopefully it will be respectful of the "Frankenteen" who was such an important part of the Gleek fandom, as well as respect the grief of his friends and co-stars.

It's sad that he died, but I really hope this causes to cancel Glee, cause that show SUCKS!

I haven't watched GLEE this past season.. it got REALLY CRAPPY!!! But, Glee is an ensemble cast-so with or without Cory is not a problem. It is just the story they have to come up with. or not. What I mean, is that, many shows used to just drop unpopular characters (not ones where people died though, as far as I know!).. and the character would just not be mentioned. Ever. Again. Like Chuck Cunningham on Happy Days. The 3rd Child on that show with the URKEL character. Or, replace the actor with another one-the Darrins on Bewitch or Beckys on Roseanne… etc

But, with Cory's family's permission of course, and depending on the AUTOPSEY'S RESULTS… Life can be written into Glee-ALCOHOL/DRUGS/DEATH…

The show will continue. The point is HOW to proceed without being insensitive to his loved ones, yes including Lea. RIP Cory. You were an awesome loving kind man.

Glee : a show made by old homos for young homos in the making. As for the hooked nose Jew…lea should work on her porn career.

Of course, script immiiating life-the cause of death will have to be determined. who knows? My bff 'lost' her bf 4 years ago to a Heart attack-he was 33. BUT, the heart was weakened from YEARS OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE! (she, my bff denied he EVER used drugs! said the ME was wrong! Seemed everyone, except his mother and her knew he used COKE and drank himself into a stupor everynight-even when they were told, they said we were lying, which some might say here… but with my friend… choo choo… the DENIAL TRAIN IS STILL PULLING INTO THE STATION EVERYDAY. and she still does not move on to another station, destination…. SAD..)

I think a poinant and touching tribute episode is appropriate here. Obviously, Finn will never return to Glee Club, and as heartbreaking as it is, I hope they chose to have his character pass away rather than just move away or choose not to return to the school. If it comes to light that drugs wwere in fact a factor in Cory's death, it might be a good teaching opportunity for the show - drugs are everywhere, and facing their consequences is important. I hope FOX realizes they have the eyes and ears of an entire generation of kids.

How encouraging to see that homophobia, anti semitism ,racism and bad spelling can coexist so successfully in these comments. RIP Cory. Back to your sewers, troll rats. Please get a moderator on this site!

Re: thinkingatheist – I totally agree with you I think it would be too easy it him to just move away in my mind I see in going into the army to finish what his dad started and maybe in combat he tried to save some one and died in the process or something like that i want him to go out as a hero on the show that was the first thought that came to mind when I thought of what they should do so that he could die a hero and lea can really let her emotions out when they tell her the news or maybe they should do a drugs episode idk and maybe show the episode where he was suppose to come back to new directions as apart of the tribute or just something special

To those saying that they should have his character die in the show: while this is a good way to permanently remove a character from a series, you also have to remember that Lea Michele IS still in the show and I highly doubt that she is going to want to relive him dying in the show. Cory's death does not only affect his fans and the future of Glee, but it also heavily affects his coworkers who are going to be on a set full of memories from their time with him which, I imagine, will be incredibly difficult. Choosing how to write Finn out of the show is a very difficult and delicate matter.

And to the few people that have made negative comments about Glee: Don't watch the show and don't troll the internet to bad mouth it. Go ahead, call it stupid and gay. That show has had a positive impact on the lives of so many people. I don't see how it being on TV affects you–especially if you don't watch it, as you claim.
