According to a friend of Cory's, he was diligently fighting the addiction all the way up his death by constantly attending AA meetings, even when traveling, as he attended many in Vancouver.
"Cory went to AA meetings when he got to Vancouver with some friends of his and mine. It is so tragic that he is being portrayed as drinking heavily [in the days leading up to his death], as it wasn't apparent he was intoxicated at all."
With more and more clues coming forward, it would appear as though Cory's death was the result of natural complications. As to whether or not those complications stem from his history with drugs, we're still waiting on the final word from the investigation.
Regardless of the cause, Cory was a strong man who used his platform to warn others of the dangers of his disease, and he should be respected and remembered as the loving individual he was — not for his personal battles. We miss him so much…
