cory monteith cremation lea michele heartbroken dad not invited joe monteith

This is so unbelievably sad!!!

Following a private viewing which included Lea Michele and most of his family, Cory Monteith was cremated Tuesday in Vancouver.

Unfortunately, the deceased actor's father wasn't invited to the viewing and never had a chance to say goodbye to his son!!

Grieving dad Joe Monteith admitted:

"I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very very much. I'm saddened at the fact that I couldn't have been there to see my son before he was cremated."

Cory's mother Ann acknowledged Joe had no opportunity to see his son one final time, and now she says he is "totally devastated."

Joe also revealed he was "shocked" to learn of Cory's drug use.

An autopsy earlier showed significant amounts of heroin and alcohol in the 31-year-old actor's system at the time of his death.

Our hearts continue to go out to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.

Why didn't his dad get to see him before they did this?

The evilness usually comes when people with money dies. Why spend the money on a big funeral when they can use his estate to have a grand ole time in the Bahamas?

  4. 4

Why didn't the mother TELL the people to wait so the father could see Cory one last time? Not sure if they were married or divorced, but either way the father should have been able to see his son.

Its not uncommon for people to be creamated. It isn't personally my wish but you don't know what Cory's wishes were he may have only wanted his family to see him and creamtion is a common choice,

its sad, for sure, but calling it a *horrific tragedy?* bitch, please. sandy hook was a horrific tragedy. columbine was a horrific tragedy. hurricane katrina was a horrific tragedy. some guy who OD'd on drugs? not so much. that shit happens every day.

  9. 9

If he didn't know about the drug use than how involved was he in his son's life?

  10. 10

Of course everybody knows that Lea Michelle is far more important than his own father. I wonder if she had a camera crew and a make up artist for the whole thing?

I like to think once you are no longer breathing and alive, there isn't anything left of the person that died - they are GONE! I feel it's easier to say goodbye in your own way.
Likely, the reason the mother had him cremated so quickly is bc she couldn't stand the thought of her "dead son's" body (I know I couldn't!) - it would drive me crazy thinking my child was sitting in a freezer somewhere! We bring our children into this world & love them as much as possible but we have NO CONTROL over how they leave this world! My heart goes out to his mother and ALL HIS LOVED ONES!
I hope u are in a better place Cory!

Who cares. This guy wasn't even around for the years that mattered. He only reappeared after his "son" found fame. Please.
If he wanted to make a difference in his life he could have years ago.

Cory's father was estranged for most of the past twenty years and has made money talking about him to the press before. He wasn't a big part of Cory's life and he didn't deserve a place alongside Cory's real family just because of genetics.

  14. What a bitch says – reply to this

    14

She should have waited. Doesn't matter if you are divorced on bad terms or he hasn't been around. When our son dies you contact his father and keep him involved as much as possible - Or at least let him say goodbye!! What is her problem? She sounds vindictive

  15. 15

Re: theverse – well, it's a tragedy for that family. It's definitely a sad event since he was so popular with young kids. They shouldn't have to deal with losing an idol. Drug use is not an appropriate conversation for 6 year olds. Granted, I think Cory should have thought of this when he used, but addiction is a bad disease. I see your point though.

Very sad for his family and friends. Wishing them the best and lots of happy thoughts for this tough time.

When my mother was passing away, I called my brother to let him know even though they were estranged. They should have let him see his son even if they were estranged. At times like this you drop your own personal baggage. At least offer him the opportunity.

    May this guy RIP
Most of us already know the truth of this story so congrats to lea michele she will get sales for her new album and more fame for this that was the plan after all apparently she was more important than his own blood father who should be there no mater what has gone on with him someday you guys will open your eyes

I feel terible for the dad, but we don't understand their family dynamic. Blood is not thicker than water, and gentics don't make you a father.

Re: Incognito – Sad but true theyre called sacrifices lots of famous people and government of course do them families, friends, lovers even a group of celebrities its something the media has always cooked up you should look into it sounds crazy but reality is an illusion and idolizing is a sin im not religious by the way just awake

The father was not in his.life. Cory's Mom did not know he would show up. He never contacted anyone. He should have called her. She had no idea. I am sure since he was never in either sons life he was not on her mind. She was putting her beloved son to rest. She did not shun him as other tabloids suggested. I am glad Perez didn't go there. Instead he correctly mentioned how sad this whole thing is. I hope the father who deserted his son does not try to benefit from his death by selling stories.

  26. 26

I don't know the family history, so I can't say shit about it and neither should any of you.

  27. Lala says – reply to this

    27

That's one ugly soul sitting inside that ex-wife. To go so far as to deny a father the opportunity to say farewell to a deceased child is cold. Next we'll hear some sort of disparaging remarks about the father from the ex-wife.

  28. 28

Re: Incognito – That's horrible to judge that Lea planned it to sell more of her album when it comea out. That person commenting is just out of his mind. Have some humanity.

  29. Mydoona says – reply to this

    29

obviously the mother and father are divorced or separated and the dad had nothing to do in Corys life, if he was a major part of his life he'd know about the drugs and would have been at the cremation…too late for you dad, you should have been there when your son needed you.

  30. 30

I understand, however, that there's two sides to every story and maybe we don't know everything…

So it's tragic when a famous actor dies of his own drug use but soldiers who die during war remain unacknowledged? That's messed up.

Not telling a father that his son is going to be cremated and robbing him of the chance to be present is absolutely VILE. Whatever happened between the family and his father is completely irrelevant, I can not believe that anyone would rob a father of his last goodbye to his son. Absolutely DISGUSTING. The only person I respect is his poor father. I hope the rest of his family one day feel the pain that he must be feeling. His son dies AND he is robbed of the chance to say goodbye. I am disgusted.

Clearly that mom is an evil selfish b*tch…get one last jab into her ex. Pure evil to exclude the father from seeing his son one last time…

Re: booboo1492 – of course its tragic for the family. i feel bad for them. losing a loved one sucks. unfortunately, overdose is common, and i don't think its on the level of a *horrific* tragedy. as far as kids losing an idol…..it happens. its a part of life. kids will have to learn to deal with that, you can't shelter them from it.

So…so sad! I just don't understand why they couldn't wait for Cory's Dad to see his Son one last time, before being cremated! I understand how his Father feels, as I also lost my brother years ago…..his wife had him cremated before I could see him one last time, it still hurts me to this day! I found it extremely hard to find closer for myself. My thoughts and prayer's go out to Cory's Family & Friends! May Cory rent in peace! Love from Vancouver BC Canada

Cory was estranged from his father for over twenty years. His parents divorced when he was seven years old. They did reconcile a year or more ago when his father messaged him on his phone. I believe that they didn't really keep in touch after that meeting. I heard this information when he was interviewed on a popular Canadian TV talk show.

Re: Lisa – i'm not sure, but from what I read cory began using drugs after he and his mom separated. His dad also moved far away from cory to new bruswick which is across Canada from Vancouver. They had a stern relationship. What I heard they tried to mend it and he said that every wave was for his dad… Idk if this is true. but if it is my thinking is that they might've still had it rough and they wanted it to be a fast cremation to avoid a bigger attention scandal
