New Zealand's bringing Hollywood on board for their first EVER gay marriage ceremony.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson will host the country's groundbreaking nuptials after their marriage equality law goes into effect August 19, but this isn't any old wedding — this walk down the aisle will be down the aisle of an airplane!!!!
"We expect this marriage at 30,000 feet to attract significant global media interest. Naturally, the couple's family and friends will want to be on hand for the special occasion so we have plenty of seats set aside for them. Jesse Tyler Ferguson being present will make the day even more memorable. Jesse has been deeply committed to campaigning for marriage equality and the fact that he is prepared to travel from the United States to be here demonstrates the historic nature of this event."
Based on his own plans to marry his beau Justin Mikita in NYC this month AND his passionate advocacy, we couldn't think of anyone better suited! Actually, he's almost as excited as we are!!!
The actor said:
"Justin and I are thrilled to be taking part in witnessing this historic moment for New Zealand! After launching ‘Tie The Knot,' our bow tie campaign for marriage equality in the U.S., it is clear that the journey towards marriage, both in the U.S. & beyond, means so much to us. We cannot wait to celebrate this joyous occasion with Air New Zealand!"
But will the lucky Kiwi couple be chosen??!
Hopeful local couples must enter HERE and share their soaring love story.
Ahh! It literally brings tears to our eyes that after all the obstacles and hard work, marriage equality is finally making strides GLOBALLY.
What a special way to celebrate such a monumental moment in history!
