Cory Monteith May Have Been At A Higher Risk Of Overdose Because Of Rehab

cory monteith death heroin overdose rehab

We were horrified to learn of Cory Monteith's death and devastated that it was indeed an overdose mix of heroin and alcohol.

But Cory had been using off and on since he was 13 years old! Why did he OD now??

According to medical experts, it may have been the fact that Cory was trying so hard to stay clean. Dr. John Brown of San Francisco General Hospital says that a relapse can be even more dangerous than never quitting at all! He says:

"Among people who have been clean and sober, if they go back into the habit, they will usually start at the same dose that they had before. Their body is now sensitive to it. They've essentially reset their body."

Anyone who has ever gotten out of a cold pool for a few minutes and then jumped back in knows it can be freezing cold all over again.

It's just so sad that Cory's determination to get clean may have put him in even more danger.

Sobriety is a long, hard road. And that makes it even more important not to fall off the wagon. Our hearts go out to everyone out there struggling with an addiction today.

Where was the 12-Step religious AA/NA CULT'S "HIGHER POWER" the USA's Treatment Industry peddles for $20 BILLION A YEAR?

perez, youve had kind words throughout this tragedy but this is a fucking stupid post and it should be removed immediately. If Lea Michele and Cory's other friends and loved ones who encouraged him to go to rehab and get clean saw this, they will blame themselves.

You posted yesterday that Lea gave him an ultimatum. Either he go to rehab and get clean, or she leaves him. He went to rehab, and now you're saying that's what killed him? You're so fucking dumb sometimes. Stop going into stupid details that don't matter anymore. He died tragically. We now know how and why, so I don't know why you keep finding more and more things to write. Move on and allow people to mourn. Think before you post shit like this because it's bascially blaming Lea.

Do you think this young man's death will encourage the thousands of young people in Hollywood to stop doing drugs? No. When you're hooked, you're hooked.

This is exactly what happens. After rehab your body is free of drugs, and your kidney and liver are clean. Then when you take the same dose you did before rehab, your body can't handle it. It's called an overdose.

I lost my mother in 2002 of a heroin overdose. Losing a loved one to drug addiction is very heartbreaking.

There have been many deaths around Vancouver related to heroin that has been cut with fentanyl. The police have once again been publicly warning people since Cory's death.

DUH! Sorry but his "determination to get clean" is not what put him at risk! It was his inability to STAY clean that did it. Sad but true.

It is like anything esle - you stop eating/drinking something for a long time and then go back to it, the same way you used to and it makes you sick. You have to ease back into things _ I am NOT saying he needed to ease back into drugs!!!! I am only saying that the body gets used to things not being in your systen and then has to readjust to them once entered back into the system.

Simpe example - (and NOT comparing this to drug use at all) I cut out eating chocolate or drinking caffeine for 1-2 months and then drink 2-3 cups of coffee in a day or eat a piece of chocolate cake - and I am immediately sick. I can only imagine the shock to the body with a large dose of drugs being reintroduced into it after it was cleansed out….

Well, this is another case of how bad is mental health system in USA, where only you have health if you can pay (lots) for it. What kind of therapy was doing this man? Do you really think that one or two months of rehab can solve 18 years of addiction?
Is well know that behavioral therapy does not solve the problem, because it doesnt takes the root of the problem. It just works out the addictive behaviors but does not solve what triggers it, so that's why the person repeats the act and goes back to drugs again.

This is not news. Everyone knows this. People overdose all the time during a relapse after being sober for a period of time.

You uneducated idiots who are calling him "Just a Junkie" should educate yourselves before you open you mouths! Addiction is a disease! I know of a very close family with five children. All of them had the same upbringing. Four of them became addicts, and one is not. One of them died a year ago after being sober for four months. Same story of not knowing their tolerance level when they relapsed. My daughter is a 24 year old heroin addict who put herself into 90 days of rehab and is still there currently. I fully know, as does she of the risks of relapse after treatment. Your chances of surviving this disease are worse than if you were to have cancer. Rehab did not kill this young man, the disease did. Get your facts together before you open your mouths and post such hateful BS next time! IDIOTS!
