Trayvon Martin's Parents Are 'Shocked' About Zimmerman's Acquittal As They Make First TV Appearance Since The End Of The Trial!

| Filed under: Legal MattersSad Sad

While celebrities and average citizens alike have had really emotional reactions to the acquittal of George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin's parents have kept their silence on Sunday's verdict.

Until now, that is.

Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton finally spoke out about the not guilty verdict reached in the case against police officer George Zimmerman.

The divorced couple talked to Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, and TODAY this morning, and will also speak in greater length to Anderson Cooper.

Tracy, Trayvon's father, when asked how he was processing the court's ruling, had this to say on TODAY:

"Still shocked, still in disbelief. We felt in our hearts that we were going to get a conviction. We thought that the killer of our unarmed child was going to be convicted of the crime he committed."

On Good Morning America, Sybrina, Trayvon's mom, was asked what she thought about those who said that Trayvon had a part to play in his own death, and answered saying this:

"…Trayvon was a teenager, so he probably thought as a teenager. I really do believe he was afraid because he called George Zimmerman 'creepy.'"

Our hearts go out to Tracy and Sybrina, and all of those who loved and knew Trayvon.

Ch-ch-check out the heart wrenching interviews from Good Morning America and TODAY (below).

So sad. No parent should have to bury their child.

This is such a sad story from beginning to end. An overzealous community watchman has a fear of black men and creates a situation in which he has to defend himself. The guy is a total loser! Unfortunately I can understand why the murder charge did not hold, but to not even be found guilty of manslaughter is a disgrace to justice. Trayvon was a young man going about his normal daily activities and got blasted because of fear and racism. How I hope that all of the isms of the world go away, but I know they will not because there are too many ignorant sheeple out there making judgments based on fear rather than intelligence.
I hope his parents and family know that there is a lot of support for them, and to know that Karma will win out eventually.

George Zimmerman is/was not a police officer.

What are they shocked about? Trayvon should have been locked up in Miami juv system. but he ended up at daddys girlfriends house. A sweet "child" he wasn't. If they were to bring out his text messages with the naked girls, stolen jewerly and the gun it would have been over sooner.

This is going to be a controversial statement but why is the onus on white people to change their views of blacks? and to give blacks and other minorities the benefit of the doubt? The reason many whites have negative views of blacks is because the majority of the time it is blacks and minorities that are committing crimes. I understand that that is because of economic factors and not because of race BUT it is still blacks that are committing crimes. So my point here is why is the onus on whites to give blacks the benefit of the doubt and to keep open minds and to change their views? WHY is the onus not on blacks to change the views of whites themselves? to prove that they are not deserving of the negative images?? Why don't non criminal blacks and other minorities say to the criminal members of their race “Stop it, your ruining things for everyone, were not going to defend your actions anymore“. As a young white female, why shouldn't I be scared when I see a large black man late at night when I know that there has been multiple rapes in my area committed by black men??? Why is the onus on me to have an open mind? Maybe blacks should have an open mind for change. Maybe they should have an open mind that they don't have to commit crime just because their poor. That crime is not the only answer.

Re: Ms. B Nice – This is a sad story, but what is sadder is your complete inability to acknowledge the facts of the case. There is a FBI report that shows that Zimmerman was not racist. He was trying to protect his neighborhood from theft, which turned into him having to protect himself. Self defense is self defense. It is sad that Martin died, but his chosen actions were wrong - wrong to attack Zimmerman and wrong to do him bodily harm. It would be wrong anywhere, anytime, and to anyone. The discussion needs to return to right and wrong, not race.

Re: TcRe: Tc – Wow. All emotion and no facts. You're in your own neighborhood and you see a stranger wandering around in the distance. You follow him because that's what a neighborhood watch person does, then you report to police. You get out of the car but then give up and go back to wait for the police. The person you are observing thinks your a gay pervert (why would anyone think that unless perhaps they themselves are gay?) so you take matters into your own hands and just go ahead and attack this person pounding their head on the sidewalk breaking their nose. What justification did TM have in doing that? In the real world a normal person would have just gone home but TM because he wasn't normal. He decided to attack someone for "watching" them. Fear and racism doesn't have anything to do with this attack. TM wanted to make a point and got himself shot for it.

Re: Tc – And your point is? TM should not have attacked GZ. If he had just gone on his way he wouldn't be dead. But he chose to turn around and attack someone just for watching them.

And I also want to point out, I hope someone is watching your ass and that your neighbors are watching out for you and your property. Or are you one of those people cruising neighborhoods getting into trouble?

Re: Lori – Are you crazy?! okay lets just say everything that you are saying is true, does that mean Trayvon deserved to get murdered and let's not forget he was a teenager. and what is there not to be shocked about? a person who was unarmed was murdered by a man who decided to take the law into his own hands when he was told not to do anything. What if god forbid something like this happened to your child, you won't be shocked? Justice has failed the martin family and an innocent life has been lost and you're saying shit like this?! I'm sorry but you have no heart

you are so delusional and ignorant lol .. No, I'm not cruising around neibhorhoods looking for "trouble" and trayvon martin wasn't either. He went to get fucken skittles and was walking to his OWN fathers house! And why did Zimmerman have to follow trayvon after he was told not to do anything

    Re: H.K
Why did Trayvon have to attack Zimmerman??? if Trayvon had not attacked Zimmerman then he would still be alive today, point blank period. Zimmerman was trying to PREVENT crime not cause it!! He would not have hurt Trayvon if he had not attacked him. Just because someone is following you does not give you the right to attack them.

Re: Kel – But what crime was Trayvon committing when George spotted him? uh, NOTHING. If George was so curious about Trayvon he should have approached him in a calm matter and introduced himself has the neighborhood watch. Or stayed a safe distance away from Trayvon in his car and called the police (911) to report a suspicious person walking in his neighborhood and waited for the police to arrive. George allowed those recent break-ins to cloud his judgment that night. George being overzealous is why the confrontation started and why Trayvon is dead.

Re: ThaRealTruth – If Zimmerman was trying to prevent crime he would have done it in a better manner or at least have listened to the 911 person or waited for the cops to arrive and oh really then just because someone looks "suspicious" doesn't give you the right to stalk them either now does it. It's not Trayvon's fault he died its zimmermans he was the man behind the trigger and ya I know what your going to say "it was self defense" but self defense doesn't mean committing murder. Do you not care that a young life was lost and two parents lost their kid? All you care about it putting the blame on the person that won't be able to continue his life and isn't here to defend himself

Re: shaygirl1309 – oh bitch stfu. Dumb people like you are just trying to bring up irrelevant things, youre acting like other 17 year olds haven't stolen, shared nudes. What generation are you in… so just because you stolen something, or shared nudes you deserved to be killed are you fucking kidding me..É This kid was coming back from the store with skittles, and a beverage… he clearly wasn't up to bad. Zimmerman didn't need to get out of his vehicle and follow him. If someone is following you no shit are you going to be creeped out… Zimmerman could have approached him in a mannerly way in which he would have not been compelled to hit him. Wasn't Trayvon hitting Zimmerman self-defense huh, you are getting stalked by some old man are you going to strike back no shit.. Zimmerman got himself involved with trayvon, and he clearly underestimated how strong he would be, and then when he couldn't take it, he decided to use a gun for self-defense. How is it self fucking defense when you got yourself involved that doesn't make logical fucking sense. NO SHIT ARE THE PARENTS GOING TO BE SHOCKED, NO PARENT WANTS TO HEAR THEIR KID DIED IT DOESNT MATTER HOW BAD OR GOOD YOU ARE. YOURE STILL CONSIDERED A BABY IN THE PARENTS EYES. HOW COULD PEOPLE LIKE YOU BE SO ARROGANT..
