Amanda Bynes' Parents Seeking Conservatorship Following Psychiatric Hold

amanda bynes parents want conservatorship

This is for the best.

Following the news of Amanda Bynes' hospitalization — a 5150 hold (involuntary psychiatric hold) — her parents are reportedly determined to obtain a conservatorship.

Amanda was sent to the hospital when law enforcement deemed it necessary following the Monday night incident where she lit a small fire in someone's Thousand Oaks driveway.

Sources close to the situation reveal:

"Her parents are absolutely sick with worry about their daughter. They are now considering going to a judge and attempting to get a conservatorship of Amanda. They have previously met with lawyers to discuss the possibility of taking legal control of Amanda’s life. It’s a truly devastating situation for Amanda’s parents and their biggest concern is the health and safety of her."

As we previously reported, Amanda can only be hold for a maximum of 72 hours on a 5150 hold, but one insider says:

"She could be released whenever doctors determine she is no longer a danger to herself, or others. If Rick and Lynn are going to seek a conservatorship, they need to act very, very quickly."

Fingers crossed they're on it! Surely they are. If anyone wants to see Amanda get help, it's definitely gotta be her parents!

Ventura County Sheriff's Captain Don Aguilar says of the hospitalization:

"When we receive a call on something like this and someone is behaving unusually in front of a deputy trained to evaluate the possibility of needing a mental health evaluation, we can bring them to a mental health facility for up to 72 hours. If someone is having a behavioral issue and they can't care for themselves, then we step in and we try to give them assistance they need to get them going in the right direction."

We can only hope this is the final straw Amanda needs to get the REAL help she needs.

It was about time….she is worst than Britney, back in 2008…she's out of this world like wayyyy ago.

Finally. I hope her parents can get her into a place where they can lock her down until she's stabilized on some meds. You know she would bolt again if given the chance.

Maybe she should talk to her rabbi

glad she's finally getting evaluated and hopefully help. however, if she refuses to believe she has issues and won't stay on any meds if she does have bipolar or manic issues (not sure what she has, but she's definitely got issues) she'll just keep descending into this problem. But hopefully she's go the Britney route. Amanda is really in a bad place mentally. very bad. I will pray for her and her family.

She evidently has moments of clarity. I only hope the doctors see her whacked out behavior before they let her go. also, her parents shouldn't be pleading their case through this shit pile of so-called media.

U can't compare her with britney. britney went trough a bad divorce, and had way more pressure than amanda. there are completely different situations. its very sad what is happening either way. hope she gets help soon!

Well, what the hell is she going to say now? It wasn't me? It was an imposter? I'm not mentally ill?

    Dear Amanda,

Sane people do not light fire to random people's houses and the state of California frowns up fires. Especially arson. So it's either say you are nuts or guess what, JAIL TIME!

Either way, she hopefully can't hurt anyone for a few weeks.

    what took so long?

Hopefully she'll get the help she needs. If a conservatorship happens, she won't get control of her own affairs back unless she demonstrates responsibility in taking any needed meds.
Once she stabilizes and has a look back at her well documented behavior, she may see that the meds aren't something she should skip. She'd have to behave her way back to control of her own affairs. It's a tough call, but I think her life will improve with help from medical experts who have experience with these issues.
