It's a two way street. Unprofessional, goading paps looking for a wild photo or sound byte have displayed appalling manners the last few years; and purposely rude approaches that promote bad reactions. They want a drive by snap, profit and run, when they could arrange a proper interview like a decent journalist.

Hi Perez - if you're not familiar with Scientology you really ought to do some research the information is readily available now which it wasn't always. It's played such a major role in Los Angeles and in the Hollywood film world I think you would find it fascinating and disturbing. Scientology promotes all kinds of unethical aggressive behavior against 'suppressive persons' or people that are concerned about family in the group or are in any way critical of the church. They routinely destroy families by not allowing them to see each other - this is true even when the whole family are believers as well as when part of the family is concerned/critical. A great book on the subject is Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape by Jenna Miscavige the niece of the Church's president David Miscavige. Another hallmark of Scientologist behavior is lying which is assertively promoted to all members famous and footsoldier alike. As the queen of Hollywood not only will you find it all very interesting I think you owe it to yourself to find out. Kind regards, Cathryn.

If you're mates with Ms. Remini I'm sure she could give you the DL. Other components of being a member are slave labor and financial ruin. Forget it if you are gay (not encouraged) or have a psych illness that needs treatment (out of the question) - for instance Jett Travolta was not allowed his medication. Harassment of critics is common such as camping out in front of a critic's home, setting PI's on them, destructive rumor incitement, and phone harassment. Frivolous litigation has been another infamous Scientology tactic for destroying 'SP's'. They harassed the Cult Awareness Network out of existence and then bought the name so anyone wanting info about cults reached Scientology instead. Of course that is long over and most know that the place to go for credible info is the International Cultic Studies Association but it created real harm. Honestly the destructive behavior goes on ad infinitum…

While I certainly hope that Perez would do research (even a simple search) to find out about what is happening under Miscavige in the church, to see what people who have left are saying….I doubt he will. The fact that he said "what would Xenu say" about Kirstie condoning violence tells me he knows nothing. Xenu would have applauded violence, he was one mean dude LOL!

There's religion, and then there's just your personal way of doing things. I think that's just her human reaction to the situation. Just like every human being, everything we do or think isn't linked to our religion.

Yeah agreed - I don't think Kirsty's comment was actually related to Scientology. I just care very much about the subject having gotten involved as a young person in a very different cult but one that worked with Scientology legally. Ironically the ACLU was their greatest champion! I'm also from LA and love the city despite all its seedy pitfalls. The way Scientology has worked the city crosses even mafia lines in my eyes and I want them held to account.

I actually have mixed feelings about attacks on paps - I don't think it's the right way to handle the confrontation but they push the personal space limit way too far for anyone's comfort and I don't think the first amendment is really designed for that. It would be preferable if they just took it upon themselves to develop more professional ethics but that will never happen.

Let me think a nanosecond. Why yes, it does.

OK, not enough space to do the subject justice however the church of scientology doesn't discourage violence and it's teachings tend to encourage violence in people for the following reasons:

    1. It's members are encouraged to believe they're superior to mere "wogs" (non-scientologists),
    2. They have a course and a book titled "Confront and shatter suppression", "suppression" being anything from anyone annoying you. Confront and shatter I think are self explanatory.
    3. The teachings include "the only way to defend is attack". (attack, attack, attack).
    4. One doctrine says that perceived enemies of the church of scientology (or by extension your own) may be "deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed."

    I could go on.

Sweet Perez, you need a haircut. I say this with all love: the locks are just not working :) hugz

L Ron Hubbard said, "Never defend, always attack." It also stops people like Kirstie from actually looking at what is happening in her, "church."

Good work, Perez! Kirstie has always had a problem with self restraint. She took may courses and counseling sessions to try and rehabilitate herself but it's obvious from these rants that Scientology does not work and you can't change the spots on a leopard . Does Scientology promote violence? Not directly but a scientologist is encouraged to attack the enemy and do whatever it takes despite the law to help the cult win their war with the world.

Perez! You need to learn about $cientology.. It has a long and very well doumented history of abuse, against journalists as well as against it's own members and former members.. Read Tony Ortega's blog.. You'll be stunned that these amazing stories have been playing out right in your own back yard..

Hey Perez, I am producing a public service announcement here, just for you. smile.

It's called: You know Scientology has declared you an enemy (they don't like your article)…
    1. You find yourself being followed everywhere by Private Investigators.
    2. You see 2 people going through your trash when its out by the curb, every week.
    3. If you have a pet (cat or dog or bird) and you find them 'dead' when you come home.
    4. If all of your neighbors and business associates are contacted by people digging up dirt on you, and, leaving them with fliers saying you are a baby rapist drug addict.

I hope none of those things happen to you. But like some other comments here have mentioned to you, you really ought spend a little bit of time on scientology for yourself. Tony Ortega's Underground Bunker is the premier spot for historical and current facts. And they are scary Perez. Very very scary. Their leader is becoming increasing strange and he controls over a billion dollars to do whatever he wants. And he may not like you.
