Cory Monteith To Be Honored At 2013 Emmys

cory monteith emmys tribute planned

Every year, the Emmys take a moment to honor those the TV world has lost in the In Memoriam segment.

But Cory Monteith died so young and tragically and touched so many lives that the awards show is planning a special tribute to the late Glee star.

Executive producer Ken Ehrlich says the team is hard at work trying to figure out "something that reflects an homage." He says:

"What the extent of that is, or how we’re going to approach it… well, it’s too early to tell."

We understand it's never easy handling such a sad subject, especially in such a joyous show. But we have faith they'll find the perfect way to honor Cory's memory.

    WHAT?!? Honoring a druggie… Awesome.

Have they thought about promoting safe injection sites as part of a harm reduction approach? Harm reduction has proven to be effective, yet ignored or rejected by legislators in spite of saving the lives of many people struggling with addictions. Llegislators constantly ignoring scientific evidence that proves to alleviate problems social problems out of fear. Fear that implementing sensible programs just might encourage more drug use when statistically it has proven otherwise. Couldn't people with influence put pressure where change is needed to save lives?

Re: Sarah – Obviously, you don't understand addiction. This wasn't someone like certain stars who flaunt their drug use left and right. This is someone who was fighting the disease (yes, believe it or not, it is a disease), since he was a teenager. Unfortunately, he lost. But, he touched a lot of people's lives, and there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that.

Such a hollywood thing to do, "honoring" a drug addict….just because he's wrapped up in a pretty package….gross

Re: Mel – I agree with you, he tried to battle his disease, I also understand that about our troops, however the emmys are about actors and actresses, not war. They are honoring the person that had given his time, his heart and his money to things that made peoples lives better; Chrysalis, Virgin Unite and Project Limelight Society. He was much more than just a addict.

I am amazed at our society for thinking of honoring a drug addict that just recently killed himself. If you are going to honor anyone, it should be our troops not druggies. Shame on you so called Hollywood idiots

Re: karenRe: Mel – agree with you both. the emmys are about actors, actresses. and calling him a druggie is ignorant. clearly no understanding of what addiction really is.

trying to keep it under wraps with the "he was such a nice guy" bs is ok, but to worship him???? no wonder our society has no values!!!

Honoring Cory Monteith at the Emmys is like saying Miley Cyrus is doing the right thing at her age bracket.
