Today is the day!
Will a California judge determine Amanda Bynes to be capable of caring for herself? Or will he instead grant her mother Lynn control of her daughter's life?
For the past 17 days, Amanda has been under a court-ordered stay at a psychiatric hospital. She is expected to be escorted by a medical team to the courthouse Friday where she and her lawyer will fight for her freedom.
Legal experts say it will all come down to doctor's orders and whether or not THEY think her behavior while in treatment these past two weeks is evidence enough that she's ready to live on her own again.
But even with a thumbs up from medical experts (which seems VERY unlikely, considering she is reportedly suffering from schizophrenic tendencies) Amanda will still have to convince the judge, who could even require a private, face-to-face meeting with the actress!
He will then determine whether to release her back into hospital care, or grant a temporary conservatorship to her parents where she will receive outpatient treatment, with her mom in control of her basic needs and finances.
We are crossing our fingers that Amanda will realize the road to recovery is a long one and allow others to help her during this tough time!
Bynes' parents have remained quiet during their struggle to save their daughter, but their attorney recently spoke on their behalf, stating:
"My clients only want the best for their daughter. They love her very much."
Here's hoping the right decision is made today!
