With D23 (essentially the all Disney version of Comic-Con) happening this weekend, we could not be more excited to see what the brilliant folks over at Pixar and Disney Animation have in store for us.
In an interview yesterday, John Lasseter the Chief Creative Officer at Pixar and Disney, and the dude who wears more Hawaiian shirts than Hunter S. Thompson, spoke about what he would be talking about today at the expo:
"[W]e’re talking about the next three films we have coming out – The Good Dinosaur, Inside/Out, and Finding Dory. And we’ve got a lot of fun stuff in there. With the Walt Disney Animation Studios we’ll definitely talk about Frozen which is coming up in November, and we’ll be talking about Big Hero 6, which is coming out next year and the short Get A Horse."
Speaking of Frozen, below is some extremely
freezing cool artwork from the movie that features the Kristen Bell-voiced character, Anna.
Anna — despite always possessing a light, bright disposition — lives in a land of constant Winter (cough, Game of Thrones, cough). On her adventure, she teams up with a mountain man, Kristoff, to search for her Ice Queen sister, Elsa.
Ch-ch-check out the photo (BELOW) to see Anna and Kristoff's first meeting (hopefully they had an ice breaker):
Meanwhile, what's really exciting is the upcoming collaboration between Marvel and Disney's Animation Studios on the film Big Hero 6. Heeeeeere's Johnny's…two cents on the flick:
"It’s based upon a very short series of comic books and it’s six comic books. They’re out of the Marvel universe, but more of a Japanese manga style. We’re creating something based upon that so it’s really a Disney Animation production. A loose adaptation — like all adaptations are. They almost have to be."
Finally, John answered the question that's pretty much on everybody's
jedi mind trick: is there any chance Pixar and Disney will collaborate on the upcoming Star Wars?
"Not really, other than Pixar has always used Skywalker Sound for all of our productions. They’re the best so we’ll always continue using them and we’re very good friends."
That's too bad. Emperor Zurg from Toy Story is the most logical choice of villain, but oh well.
Can't wait to see what surprises Disney has in store for us over the rest of D23. Meanwhile, ch-ch-check out the concept art for The Good Dinosaur (above)!!!
