Jay Leno's Last Day On The Tonight Show Confirmed — But For Real This Time

Haven’t we been through this before?

The Tonight Show With Jay Leno will officially switch hands to Jimmy Fallon February 6, 2014, ending 22 years of Jay on as a late night host.

Well, 22 years minus ten months. But who’s counting?

The changeover will happen the night before the Sochi Winter Olympics start, also airing on NBC, which should give Jimmy a nice first week — unless, of course, the U.S. boycotts the Games, which President Obama has publicly said he doesn’t think we should do.

And what was his forum for such a statement?

The Tonight Show With Jay Leno!

We're thinking of it as Jay's contribution to Jimmy's getting off to a strong beginning and saving his having to follow three hours of The Biggest Loser reruns for two weeks.

Hope it works — for all our sakes!

Good, I'm glad he's leaving, terrible interviewer the way he reaches over and touches the guests all the time to get their attention or how he likes to talk about himself. He has made a lot of cruel comments over the years about various celebrities who were suffering misfortunes, and people from the audience as well. Considering his wealth it made it even worse for him to make those kind of comments about their professions, etc.

NBC is so stupid. Leno is the #1 late night show beating Letterperv and they Cancel him and hire another snl idiot-moron host. good luck with that. I'm hoping Jay goes to FOX!

I still think Seth Meyers should take over The Tonight Show and leave Jimmy where he's at. Seth has a more serious style of comedy while Jimmy is wild and goofy. Jimmy is not suited for the tonight show, which is supposed to be funny but formal, which I think Seth can pull off but not Jimmy.

    Re: Crispy Bacon

I agree with you about Fallon…he's nice enough and all, but he has a lot of maturing to do in the next 6 months. He's too "wild" for the older folks in middle America who watch The Tonight Show. I wish him the best, but it has the potential to be a disaster…

Re: Crispy Bacon – the only thing Seth Myers is funny at is being the straight guy in news update on snl. there really isn't anything about him that is funny.

Really sorry to hear this, always liked Jay when I could stay awake long enough to watch. Hope he still keeps performing at the Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, CA on Sundays like he often does.

You people who are saying that Jimmy isn't good enough or for the tonight show are wrong, and you'll take it back when you see how good he is. Just because he's fun doesn't mean he's immature. I have no problem with Leno, I just don't like the Jimmy hate.

NBC is making a big mistake in replacing Leno; while he is so popular. Many of his viewers feel that he deserves a lot better treatment. Those who don't like Leno have plenty of other choices. This isn't rocket science! Leno is number 1 because the largest group of Late Night viewers find his show to have the best balance and be the most entertaining. Jimmy Fallon has a totally different show that appeals to a very different audience. He will lose too many of Leno's present viewers; and The Tonight Show will not remain number 1.Let's hope that Leno brings his show to another network! The Ratings Won't Lie!

It appears Jay has already had the last day on tonight show, because he spends alot of time on vacation, and not doing any live shows anymore, they're all reruns. I don't think Johnny Carson took the vacations that Jay does. I think he's getting back at NBC for replacing him.

I won't be watching Fallon once Jay is gone. Spouse says may watch him, but I'll be making sure we are not DVR'ing it. NBC has made a mistake letting Jay go and moving the show to NY. I'll be watching Jimmy Kimmel and Letterman, but Letterman is just not a favorite for me.
