Well, we can't say we're surprised!
In an interview with E! News, the Danity Kane alum shared:
On an evening that is supposed to give teens their say, it turns out young voters had almost NO part in picking the winners at last night's Teen Choice Awards!
SAY WHAT NOW?!?
The producers of the annual award ceremony can't hide behind their surfboards any longer! Our investigative team has uncovered some little known details about just how the winners are determined!
"Winners for the Teen Choice Awards are determined using the votes cast on the Site. Votes are tabulated electronically and winners are determined based on the nominees in each category with the highest number of eligible votes. Teenasaurus Rox reserves the right to choose the winner from the top four vote generators."
They also flashed this disclaimer for a hot second during last night's telecast:
So fans aren't actually picking the winners at all! From what we can tell, it boils down to who the producers can get to be there and who they can't!
The celebs that show up get their surfboards, and the stars who can't make it, regardless of how many votes they garner, get nothing!
Wowee zowee! We guess voter fraud actually is a serious problem in this country!
Still, we have to say, this both shocks and disappoints us! And it also makes us wonder about other award shows where all of the winners just HAPPEN to be there.
Are YOU upset by the voting system for the Teen Choice Awards???
