Naomi Watts may have Princess Diana’s blond hair and blue eyes, but the actress knew there was a key component she’d have to nail to get her titular performance in the biopic, Diana, just right:
The actress, who grew up in Britain, as Diana did, said recently:
"I was very nervous about the accent…. She had a very distinct voice - she came from aristocracy so she was quite posh, but there was a warmth there, too. Her accent wasn't too 'fruity'.”
Naomi became obsessed with perfecting the nuances of Diana’s lilt and mannerisms, particularly studying the infamous Panorama interview on BBC two years before Diana's death where she opened up about her life in and after Buckingham Palace.
"I watched it pretty much every day during make-up; I went running with it playing in my iPod.”
And that’s how you become an Oscar-nominated actress, kiddoes:
Also: EXERCISE! LOLz!!!
We can’t WAIT to see Naomi’s hard work on the big screen!
