oh god, perez stop. EVERYONE knows lady gaga is better. she will DESTROY that perry woman in the clubs, in the charts, live and everywhere else and your delusional mewlings wont change a thing about that. perry is mediocre, untalented, unoriginal, shes just a pretty face. and ffs that 'unrelatable lyrics' - part….since WHEN are lyrics in commercial hits relevant? theyre NOT, hence why songs like 'blurred lines' or 'get lucky' can be popular. this video is on of the biggest fails you ever produced.

  2. Kevin H. says – reply to this

Dude, her WHOLE first album was about being famous or trying to achieve fame. That's why it's called The Fame. So why all of a sudden, with this one song being about fame, you have a problem with it when her first album was the complete subject of it? He's coming across so petty. I guess he's got a problem with her now because he seems totally biased.

  3. KC says – reply to this

@someguy2621 : Actually it's supposed to be spelled Kunst, which is the German word for Art.

  4. Aldo says – reply to this

Remember that time u used to lick Gaga's ass ?
The only reason you criticize Applause is that you are vexed.

Peace, Mario, time to grow up

  5. Aldo says – reply to this

Re: KC – It's originally for "Koons", Jeff Koons, a comtemporary artist working with Gaga for the Artpop rave

  6. Jp says – reply to this

    Re: Michelle
    Very much agree with you.

  7. Valentina says – reply to this

What % of songs on the radio are relateable to anybody? Very few. I think Applause is a better song than Roar because it's energetic, fun, exciting, and different. Roar sounds like everything else.

  8. Bombón says – reply to this

Re: Amanda – You said that is not about competition. So, Why Gaga forward the release date of Applause for the same day to Roar? And she talks about "no war between fans?" hahah please! Gaga is a fuckin lier. She make's me sick.

  9. K Bye says – reply to this

Gaga is a pathetic record company money maker and so low.
She gives 'art' bad names and just wants to sell garbage not art.

  10. MJ says – reply to this

Since when does good pop have to be relatable? Did anyone 'relate' to 'Telephone'? Not to mention 'California Girls' was successful worldwide… I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess that the people in Sydney can't relate to being 'California Girls'… Not to mention hundreds of successful artists sing/rap about fame and applause (Kanye, Jay-Z, Britney Spears).

  11. XXX says – reply to this

I guess you're entitled to your own opinion, being it that this is your blog and such, but stop pretending you're some pop music expert or that you know what's best for the music listening public. If everyone listened to you, the music charts would be worse off than they already are.

  12. a says – reply to this

too bad your precious katy perry STOLE her song. It isn't authentic and never will be. Knockoff Perry should get some originality.

  13. jnp says – reply to this

LOL God the Gagabsession you have is really strange, gtet help dude
Two singers, two songs, they like each other, there's no feud, there's no competition.
One's from an artist with her own vision and the other is from a manufactured pop star who sings what she's told to sing …. both ok tunes. get over it

  14. Duarto Feliz says – reply to this

In a not too distant future someone could treat YOUR KID the same way you are treating GaGa!

  15. @v@ says – reply to this

Cyber bullying is like the opposite of pumpkin pie. It's totally gross! - Perez/MamaJune

  16. Jack Vannis says – reply to this

Shame on you Perez, shame on you. This is backstabbing 101. Could it be that Gaga has become too big for you now that she can't hang out with you anymore like back in her Just Dance days? Is this getting even? What? Katy and Gaga are both amazing and original artists and I wish them the best. You're just a sad little man who people should steer clear from. If this immature behaviour continues I'm actually worried about how your kid will turn out. Poor thing.

  17. fiona1978 says – reply to this

Applause is kind of boring. If it gets remixed I might like it better.

  18. Mando says – reply to this

Dude you look meth out like you've been sucking dick all night give it up t bag

  19. coco says – reply to this

I have to say i completely disagree! I think 'Applause' is so much better than Katy Perry's 'Roar'. One huge thing is that Katy Perry's song sound like a complete copy of 'Brave'.

  20. Ian says – reply to this

Perez why are you talking out of your ass?

  21. 121

Re: ARTPOP BREAK RECORDS – Umm actually you are VERY wrong. Roar is number 1 in over 60 countries and is still number 1 on iTunes here in America. I love both songs and both artists and I bought both singles as soon as they each came out but statistically Roar is doing much better right now.

  22. 122

I love both songs, and I refuse to choose one artist over the other because I love them both and think they are both very inspiring. They aren't having any type of feud regardless of what the media wants you to think, so I think it's stupid that people are making this a huge deal

  23. marsali says – reply to this

That's great Perez, but other than completely deductively, what does your commentary have to do with Katy Perry's new song Roar? You didn't mention it anywhere other than the title.

  24. 124

firstly, Lady Gaga doesn't have to have a huge smash hit, as she write and has a lot of creative control over it, therefore spending less money on it. Katy Perry on the other hand does fork out a lot on people to write for her and needs extra marketing so her music does need to be a bigger success (but you prob knew that as your an expert of the beautiful business you slate)

secondly. check you readership perez as they voted Lady Gaga's single as better, ON THIS SITE.

finally, your comments on "applause" not being relatable is bit reductive as, wait, isn't your fame from this site getting people to praise or slate you?

I cant believe I come back to this swill time after time thinking "hey maybe hes learned how to form an opinion" yet again I'm wrong

  25. 125

Objectively speaking??? You said it twice, but no one believes you. You hate Gaga because she reminds you of a time in your life when you were overweight and desperate for acceptance. Sadly, now your Narcissistic Personality is more threatening than all the food your used to consume. In your attempt to talk CL-EAR and PRE-CISE you've distracted yourself and didn't say why Roar is better. Your next gotta-get-more-hits topic will be "I hate American children" which should be a nice payday for you. Get a real job, loser.

  26. valkyriekee says – reply to this

Growing up, I used to have a name for girls like "ga ga". Yellow Girl. Not anything East at all, but always just off,,,,,,,,,,desperate.
Her photos are just not good. I like racy. She is just grasping. She can OHM Madonna until her tush goes numb, and she won't be able to get closer to real art.

  27. Jhon says – reply to this

  28. chris says – reply to this

both lady gaga and katy perry both want you to shut the fuck up and to stop pitting them against each other

  29. sam says – reply to this

clearly a miserable & very unhappy person u r perez. loosing so much respect world wide. More than anything what you are doing is making people turn against you & not lady Gaga. Sham shame on you

  30. KEll says – reply to this

Funny, you say this… as you stand infront of Gaga's record on the wall for Just Dance. Need we remind you how successful that was? I think you know that answer, thats around the time you were up her ass. P.s. go tend to your child… or maybe he will do a better job tending to you.

  31. Angel Eyes says – reply to this

I really like gaga"s new song!!! It is different and outside the box . unsafe so to speak I can appreciate it !!! Perez when did you become a music critic ? first learn then speak just cause your gay doesn't mean ya got it gurl ! Now sashay away !

  32. DIE says – reply to this

  33. Thats Funny says – reply to this

Monsters are vile. Gaga deserves to be jeered not applauded.
Say no to this mediocre garbage pop song like Applause.

  34. Tara Savelo says – reply to this

Gaga..original. Oh please Monsters. Are you guys tone deaf?

  35. 135

I do not care for either of them.

  36. abi says – reply to this

you're so pathetic, you're nobody, APPLAUSE is more succesful than roar, you're just a stupid asshole!

  37. DaveNY says – reply to this

The song is a total disappointment, I felt the same way, where is a Bad Romance, Poker Face, something that is NEW

  38. 138

Re: danny – I completely agree. I think Katy Perry never takes any risks. Her songs are all the same and GaGa switches it up.

  39. 139

What I think is the following:
    1. You and Gaga had a falling out over the last year or so. You used to be besties and maybe she suddenly distanced herself from you and for that reason you will try to be "objective" and bring her down. Bitch please!
    2. Both songs that were released have the potential to be huge hits! I am a KatyCat and a Little Monster at the same time. Why is it not possible for you to do the same?
    3. You have not once commented on how similar Katy's song is to the Sara Bareilles song but you were the first to comment on how "reductive" the art or Applause was when it was released. I clearly remember you showing a side by side of Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj
    4. As much as I had hoped you had changed, you have again proven you haven't. You claim to have seen the light but you are the main one pitting these two very successful singers against each other. As a very followed voice in pop culture, you would think the responsible thing to do would be to simply report the news as it comes in without trying to make World War 3 happen. You are probably enjoying bashing Lady Gaga since the fallout to see your old bestie succeed. I remember you once stated that Gaga was your wife and Katy your bestie. You should remember how to be loyal to both.

  40. Roses says – reply to this

I love lady gaga so much more now that you're hating on her haha

  41. Mark says – reply to this

Oh dear, it's really sad actually. If she was still buddies with you there's no way you'd post this.

Still the same old Perez - no one gives a shit anymore

  42. Kriss says – reply to this

What are you trying to prove, and to who Perez? I've always liked your webpage, but this whole gaga–perry thing has really changed the way I see your page..

  43. Bevi says – reply to this

Ok, it's time to come clean. What happened between you and Lady Gaga? Something happened. You dish the dirt on everybody else, so we want details of the tiff between you and Lady Gaga.

  44. Caitlin says – reply to this

I actually really agree with Perez. I like applause but it's not as good as roar. Roar has a much better message. Lady gaga just hasn't done it for me lately. Maybe that'll change when ARTPOP comes out…idk. I know i'll love Prism though :] Team Katy on this one.

  45. @v@ says – reply to this

Why don't you just leave her alone? She's not singing trash about you in her tunes. Yet.

  46. JLC says – reply to this

So basically if a song is weird and and you "can't relate to it," whatever that's supposed to mean, then it doesn't deserve to be a hit? Keep defending mediocrity in music.

  47. sloope says – reply to this

I feel like you were her best friend but now that you have the right to marry, she ain't so important to you. Lady is more than just a performer. She's helped advance rights and speak for groups of the unpopular.
perez, are you back to the "mean perez" of the olden times?

  48. George says – reply to this

I think Lady GaGa is creating real music, perhaps the song is not easy to relate to, but she's not trying to make anyone relate to it. That's not what real music is about Perez, real music is not about selling, is about being true to who you are as an artist.

  49. 149

U R getting more HIDEOUS by the second. Creepy, creepy man.

  50. 150

But it's not!!! Or maybe you don't have the proper understanding of the word "greater" (otherwise I cannot understand).

  51. willie rush says – reply to this

in ARTPOP, she has said that she would not necessarily create a radio-friendly album. this song is indeed artistic in a sense; an artist is recognized to create a piece or art if the audience appreciates it. APPLAUSE actually depicts this artist-audience relationship, because clapping is a form of appreciation to an artist.
No artist would keep singing for the public if the public does not applaud her.

  52. Jesse says – reply to this

    "Objectively speaking?" Haha ok Perez.

  53. Manny says – reply to this

Perez, I'm loving your super slim look, you look amazing! But, I totally disagree with you on the song. I'm loving Applause. Even if the lyrics don't relate to me, it's a glimpse into fame, so the song can become a fantasy. Bravo Gaga.

  54. STFU says – reply to this

Although entitled to your own opinion.. Who gave you authority to say what's right and wrong in music. Are you suddenly an A&R rep now? You are encouraging a battle between fans by bullying the side YOU oppose because you know exactly what you're talking about when it comes to the music business. NOT.

  55. 155

I think Perez is spot on - I really do like "Applause" but it is way more club-friendly than radio-friendly. "Roar" is really the "same 'ol, same 'ol" we get from Katy Perry, but the beat & tune are catchy and it's already having huge success on the radio. Both ladies are super creative & are going to have great careers no matter what… now, back to the real world.

  56. totalsmoshy says – reply to this

I like Katy's song more, but this is just sad. Like it or not, you are a grown man with a child. But right now you are acting like a backstabbing, whiny little teenage girl, trying to handle petty issues like "what song is better" I really thought you changed. :(

  57. Brad says – reply to this

Ok perez we get it. You hate lady gaga even though you had always kissed her ass. Putting her down like this isn't going to benifit you at all. It actually seems rediculous. She does not take notice to your desprite attempts to grab her attention so you just come of ass a joke when you try putting her down

  58. Sean says – reply to this

"This song is all about her, and her begging us to clap for her"
EXCUSE ME? Have you even listened to the song? Its about how she loves the applause that her fans give her, and about how the fans are what keeps her going.
Don't make a video saying why the song sucks if you don't even know the meaning. You are spreading false information.
Im sorry Perez but this is a new low for you. Go take a shower and rethink your life choices.

  59. Karly says – reply to this

I think that Lady Gaga made a great job and her new song Applause is perfect!!! <3

  60. Emmily says – reply to this

I think this song also heavily relates to Little Monsters who were there cheering for Gaga while her hips were breaking on tour, and the reason she is still living is because of our Applause. She lives for us much like we live for her. She says she lives for the Applause, and myself and other fans make that Applause. Makes me feel good :)

  61. Christian DiVIta says – reply to this

I actually like your attitude in this delivery. I think as she has embraced her superstardom, she doesn't feel the need to make 'radio' music, but rather music she knows that she, her friends, and her fans will love. The Applause isn't about 'GIVE ME FAME', it's about that energy exchange between the crowed and performer. I can see this is a really fun song to witness live as that exchange is amplified. Katy's track is radio friendly, but is really nothing new or exciting. I really wish we could move out of this obnoxious state of licking everyone's wounds with self-empowerment anthems. I didn't love Born This Way and I don't love Roar. Or Firework. They're just so… fuckin whiny! haha

  62. Mark says – reply to this

Re: Lee – Only when those eccentricities are original not Gaga pretend eccentricities and her ripping of the art of others. Gaga is far from original and is the original pretender. I am laughing at her failing. She deserves it for trying to con everyone she is an "artiste". She is nothing but a shameless hustler and a copy cat

  63. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: Mark – Nah. She's a well dressed tune writer/instrumentalist/canary, nothing more, nothing less…trying to get some while she's here.

  64. JoJo says – reply to this

Wait up. So, you think Applause is about Gaga "begging" us to applaud her? Huh? Are you on crack? You look like you are, btw. Applause is an homage to her monsters and how much she loves their loyalty and love. Perez, you're over thinking this and seem a bit pretentious. Please come back down to earth. Please.

  65. Justin says – reply to this

Yo you're almost 40 please stop you look dumb.. And while you're going on about why ROAR is better than 'Applause' I'm pretty sure Katy wouldn't mind if you'd shut the fuck up, I know Gaga doesn't !!

  66. ANGEL Eyes says – reply to this

PEREZ EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU Is WRONG!!!! stop comparing 2 artists gaga and katy, it just lacks class and you are showing the ugliest animal part of your nature! stop feeding into lies and promoting them, you are dangerous and I cant believe you have a child! put your child in one of there places and tell ME WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HIM OR HER!!!! you have so much power, but are you prepared for the judgement! HANDLE YOUR SHIT RESPONSIBLY and RESPECTFUL, them maybe you will get some respect!

  67. 167

gaga is nothing but yesterdays trash paper once the stylist was gone so was her so called creativity ran out the door same as the rats at her relatives restaurant omg .. there is a reason she has no clothes on anymore is because without a stylist she has zero creativity so needs to hide that by wearing nothign at all and showing her VAG ina to the world whereas katy still a very beautiful and talented woman puts this friendless gaga to shame …

perez is not to blame hes a very loyal caring open person who lovingly embraces his friends so if someone is getting shade u dam well know they DESERVE IT

gaga deserves what she gets she should be kissing his perfumed ass for even mentioning her on the site that she was on for over 2 yrs daily with him deleting all the bad comments about her he worshipped her now shes fallen to demon status she must of done something to DESERVE IT …FUCK HER…shes been blog dead since feb 2012..FOR reason…

gaga can chase the rats down the ny sewer like the putrid sliding turd her career now is .. ,meanwhile beautiful katy will fly and hopefully marry john.. her prince …

GAGA IS DEAD all that is left is a super ugly lonely woman with no friends

  68. 168

oh and 'objectively speaking ' i think her new self appreciating song is SHIT

  69. lwdjfwporkgpwrojkg says – reply to this

Really, Perez? Gaga can write about whatever pleases her as the artist. Despite what your small media-obsessed mind might think, sometimes artists make music to make themselves happy personally whether or not it is fit to reach #1 on iTunes. Because thats not all that matters, obviously. This whole hating Gaga thing is getting out of control, and this opinion is not "objective " because Gaga has had many singles to not hit #1 in the past and you never crucified her for it the way you are with Applause. It seems silly to me that you say you were prepared to like this song, when clearly you were ready to tear it apart in all ways possible before it even came out. As you seem to be doing with everything Lady Gaga does these days. I would lay off if I were you, because Lady Gaga is a very powerful & well-liked woman (in the media & with her massive fanbase) and she could easily make a statement to tear you down. If you get on her nerves enough she just might, and I hope she does. Or alternatively, I hope that Katy Perry (obviously Gagas ally) will see your nasty behaviour towards her fellow artist and call you out on it at some point. Because the way you are fuelling the Katy vs. Gaga fire is affecting both of them negatively. Your blog is petty trash and so are you.

  70. sheldon :D says – reply to this

tl:dr perez is still sad that gaga told him to fuck off.

  71. :) says – reply to this

wow… I really hope karma finds you and slaps you in the face, before someone else does. I expected more from you. I really did. Grow up Perez. Stop holding a grudge. People really are tired of you trying to make popstars hate eachother, or to make people hate the popstars. Please stop it, let it go, cause at the end you'll be the only one who gets hurt. Trust me.

  72. Bengly says – reply to this

Regardless of any personal issues between Gaga and Perez, he did give a very intelligent and debatably accurate description of the songs downfalls and how it compares to her other music….And this is coming from a Gaga fan who wants nothing more than to see her succeed.

  73. Britneyfan says – reply to this

Gaga and her fans are ugly.. They have been bullied at school.. Ugly freaks

  74. Bethan says – reply to this

I think that Applause is Gaga's worst song yet. I totally agree with you when you say that it's not relatable and that it basically means to worship her. Roar is SO much better than Applause but that's my opinion.

  75. Timmy247 says – reply to this

Re: someguy2621 – She is talking about the artist Jeff Koons.

  76. blah says – reply to this

i liked it!!! no, i love it.

  77. 177

Perez is trying to comeback at GaGa after she announced her anger at him for his mischievous actions

  78. Lewis Peters says – reply to this

I don't understand why you all of sudden are against Gaga? And why you're fuelling such a pathetic feud between two great artists? Both Gaga and Katy are different artists and both #Roar and #Applause are brilliant songs. Just stop man it's so degenerate - btw you should be proud of yourself adding to this buzz, Gaga is incorporating you on her new album in the form of the song #Swine - peace out

  79. Manny says – reply to this

Right when I thought you were becoming an "honest" journalist/pop culture media knowing person. you go and ruin it. It is sad and disgusting that you would turn on someone who once thought of you as a close friend. You use to ROAR over lady gaga but because she probably got too busy you decide to hate her. Perez revamp yourself again and REALLY finish letting all the evil go. Also back the fuck off of beyonce. Sorry roar sounds like a sad excuse to be another tween song "call me maybe". At least gaga is singing AND making amazing DANCE music.

  80. Tittieslol says – reply to this

Wtf did I just watch, LOL "objectively speaking" Yeah fucking right. Youve been bashing Gaga for like, awhile now. Move on seriously…Your being rude. You defidently are NOT just stating your opinion, im pretty sure what i've heard from you could be classified as bullying. Besides comparing an amazing club banger to an amazingly feely good song is just stupid. They sound nothing alike, totally non comparable. You should find a new thing to do…No one likes bullys. I saw somewhere you told Jennifer Aniston you were going to stop being a jerk…I think it was on Ellen. Whens that going to happen?

  81. Clive says – reply to this

What do I think about the new gaga song? Well, Gaga's song is amazing, and people are gonna listen to it IRRELEVANT of what a stupid blogger like you says. Objectively? Good luck trying to make people believe that. PLUS, THIS VIDEO NEVER REALLY SHOWED HOW KATY'S SONG IS A GREATER SONG THAN GAGA'S? youre only criticizing her song. there you go. OBJECTIVELY.. LOL! I remember you kissing gaga's ass and now all this hatred towards her? wtf if you're trying to make people dislike her, it's not working perez, in fact people are loving her even more. She's ignoring you and telling people not to care about you and not to read what you say against her, whereas on the other hand you're spreading hate. I think you should put gaga's words into practice ;) STOP THE DRAMA!. for your own good after all, you're only loosing 'fans' :)

  82. Clive says – reply to this

One other thing, whilst you're here , posting these pathetic, stupid blogs… Katy Perry and Gaga are getting along! and katy perry doesnt really look like she's following these blogs! so strictly speaking you're the pathetic one! Love your life ..

  83. tommy10009 says – reply to this

Who really cares what ugly monkey man Perez thinks? Even though he has lost weight, he's still got that ugly face and and even uglier inside.

  84. Jacob says – reply to this

I prefer Roar because it is more relatable. Katy Perry writes great songs. She doesn't have to convince everyone "I AM ART I AM SO ORIGINAL LISTEN TO THESE WEIRD SOUNDS". I'm a fan of Lady Gaga but change the station when Applause comes on. I just hope she didn't peak with Fame Monster, an AMAZING album. Hopefully on her next single she'll redeem herself.
I mean look who's #1 on the iTunes singles chart today… just saying. Sometimes, less is more.

  85. mindblown says – reply to this

Perez objectively speaking i feel like youve missed the mark on this…. yeah it a 180 from her old stuff but she's saying how appreciative she is of her fans and when we "applaud" her thats her satisfaction. yo were really good friends with her i feel like you should know this….i mean unless its all a front i think you're view is a little one dimensional.

  86. annoyedbyyourlogic says – reply to this

Just as you accuse Gaga of being too literal, your interpretation of the lyrics is perhaps too literal. She said on GMA that the thrust of the song is not in fact about being worshipped, but about pleasing her fans with the music, the applause a directing expression of that. You also praise "Bad Romance" for being forward thinking, but criticize "Applause" for not conforming to a more radio-friendly mold. Finally, if you're titling the post "Why Katy Perry's Roar is a Greater Song…", how about actually applying some of your "objective" criticism to it? My hunch is you were ready to pounce on "Applause" from the start.

  87. jarod says – reply to this

First of all this is completely false. Katy's new song is just a stereotypical Katy Perry song. Just like Firework, I kissed a girl, Part of me, Hot n' cold, etc. It's catchy and one of those songs you accidentally sing to on the car ride home. Both artists are extremely dedicated but I have to say that I think Gaga has worked harder and earned a bigger spot in the industry. I am both a Katy Perry and Gaga fan so i am not judging because I like one over the other. And by the way, get over yourself and stop talking shit about Gaga. New York is an extremely massive place… You didn't accidentally run into the same apartment she lived in.

  88. sandra says – reply to this

They're very different styles, so why compare them? I like them both, but yes, Roar is far more relatable than Applause.

How many times has Gaga sung about fame now?? It's kind of wearing thin by now, especially that most people have real lives to deal with.

Roar talks about becoming stronger, growing up, and standing up for oneself, which is ultimately a much stronger (and positive) message than talking about wanting fame and reveling in fame. Applause is pretty much encouraging the constant need for validation and reassurance, and how is that strong or feminist? Roar is about being a stronger person.

  89. Chris says – reply to this

Lady Gaga's 'Applause' has nothing to do with wanting attention or having people clap for her, this song is basically saying she lives for making people happy. If the audience claps for something, they must being enjoying it. So forth, I am a Little Monster, but I'm not going to threaten you or your family because it's childish and non of my concern. Lady Gaga in my opinion would not be so shallow in writing or releasing music. Her last album was anything but vain and i'm sure that ARTPOP will be the same.

  90. Jayjjj says – reply to this

Katy perry song is better why? Is catchy, fresh, like Perez said we could all relate to her.
Gaga? Makes a song to applause her? For singing trash? She obviously needs to take another break. We get it she's "different" a "MONSTER" LOL so just like the monster she needs to be kept away in the dark haha like literally go away gaga. You're famous cause of your no brain cell little Monsters. Not because you're an actual inspiring musician. Btw the wanna be 'girl with the dragon tattoo' look is so lame. Such a copy cat. Hahaha read this & go away!!!!! Thanks :) go Perez! We love ya for being sincere!!!! Gaga sucks. Katy rules!

I get why people are upset with Perez's opinion about the song but I don't think that Lady Gaga's song is that great. If you don't like Katy Perry's how in the world could you like hers? He's right. Gaga's song is completely unrelatable. Hearing her say applause hundreds of times was 5x more annoying than hearing Katy say Roar. Gaga doesn't even have that great of a voice. She's a good performer, as in she knows how to act, but an Average singer. She's such a mastermind eh? People give way too much credit to the puppet artists: she doesn't make the videos, her director does; no one writes all their own music and lyrics anymore. The only thing you can really credit her for is her fashion. Well this arguement could be made for most of the mediocre "artists" out there, I don't have to hear and see people making them out the be gifts from the musical gods. How is she really that different from the rest of them other than the substance in most of her songs and trying too hard to stand out?

this sounds super bitter. what's going on between PH and Gaga? Gaga's song is incredible, catchy and is more radio friendly than the "club music" he refers to… LOVED it! Not a Perry hater or anything but I didn't even listen to the whole thing out of boredom. I think She's selling more at the moment because of all the promotion and John Mayer drama. Gaga's been so low key these days, I didn't even know she released the song until I saw this video!

It's too bad because all of Perez's criticism in this video are completely valid. So naturally everyone thinks he's being bitter and a hater.

The song is ok but it lacks that wow factor she had in other songs, maybe she can make a comeback, I doubt it, but we'll see.

I started to listen to roar, continuously repeating it again and again, but i started getting bored after 8 to 10 repeats, BUT Applause is a song, i can hear all day repeating, and belive me, i don't get bore and it really makes me happy listening to it

BTW: Lady Gaga wasn't ment to release Applause on the same weekend as Roar. She did it on purpose when she found out Katy Perry was releasing Roar. Lady Gaga tried to take Katy Perry's thunder but it went right back into her face. As Katy Perry's Roar is a lot more popular then Applause also Katy Perry has 6million subscribers and Lady Gaga only has 3million. Honestly, we all know who is the more likeable person here.

Applause is better because Roar is just a rip off of Brave By Sarah B. Gaga is clearly more talented than Katy Perry not only playing piano but writing her own music.
