Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Turns On The Lights After Another Actor Suffers Injury! Spokesperson Says Show Must Go On!
Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark may be a more cursed piece of theatre than Mac-…uh, that Scottish play.
A 23-year-old actor, Daniel Curry, was seriously hurt when his leg got caught in one of the mechanical lifts during Thursday night's performance. Daniel, who plays one of 9 Spider-Man dancers, reportedly had his leg so stuck that rescuers had to saw him out!
The show was halted, and Daniel was taken to Bellevue hospital. Yeesh! Spider-Man seems to be hurting more people than saving them!
“Following last night’s accident at SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Daniel Curry remains in the hospital in stable condition having sustained an injury to his foot. Tonight’s performance will go on as scheduled. The technical elements of the show are all in good working order, and we can confirm that equipment malfunction was not a factor in the incident. Our thoughts are with Daniel and his family.”
We're not sure how good of an idea it is to start right up again with another performance! This play seems more like an episode of Wipeout than a musical!
Although this allegedly wasn't an "equipment malfunction," you practically need spidey senses to not get hurt on this show.
Likewise, we wish Daniel a quick and spidey recovery! Hopefully, years from now, this turns out to be a great story about his first of many Broadway shows, and not the reason he can only play Richard III.
