Lee Thompson Young was only 29!
This hurts our heart so much. The up-and-coming actor made his Hollywood debut on Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson, after which he sprang into the big screen with Friday Night Lights.
The star didn't show up to work this morning, when TNT's Rizzoli & Isles staffers thought it best to call his landlord (a piece of information that suggests his co-workers may have been suspect to whatever problems may be to blame).
When the landlord opened the door, there was Lee's dead body, inflicted with a gunshot wound. Officials believe it to be a suicide.
This comes on the heels of The Bachelor star Gia Allemand's suicide, a tragedy that compelled us to speak up about the dark hole so many of us find ourselves in — and that it CAN BE PREVENTED!
Nobody should ever feel like there's no escape except death. You CAN bring yourself up for air! You CAN change your life for the positive. You CAN make it! We promise you.
We are just utterly devastated over our loss with Lee. His star was shining with so much potential. We sincerely hope he is at peace now, and we extended our warmest thoughts and love to his friends and family. May you all find strength in each other.
UPDATE — Lee's publicist just confirmed that it was indeed a suicide and issued this tragic statement:
"It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning … Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed."
