Bon Jovi Guitarist Richie Sambora Quits After 30 Years! Find Out WHY He's Done Rockin' HERE!

bon jovi guitarist richie sambora quits 30 years

He's not exactly leaving in a Blaze of Glory, but this news is sad nevertheless!!

After 30 years of rockin' and rolling together, Jon Bon Jovi and his legendary guitarist, Richie Sambora, are parting ways!!!

Together they recorded 12 studio albums and sold 130 million records, but the 54-year-old axe man is truly done with Bon Jovi!

JBJ's rep is keeping mum for the minute on the whys and hows of the departure, but folks close to the band say the split was necessary!

One source close to the situation revealed:

"There were a lot of well-documented problems, so this was the best decision for now."

The writing has indeed been on the wall for a while. Months ago there was speculation of substance abuse on his part when the band's website revealed Richie was abstaining from the Because We Can tour.

That statement read:

"Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled."

Sad face!!! We're sure this is a statewide morning of mourning for many folks in New Jersey!

Sorry Jon, no Bon Jovi concert for me without RICHIE! That's like Guns n Roses without Slash. Did anyone buy Chinese Democracy?

So get this. I was just told that Jon is planning to ruin Richie. How fricking mean is that!!!!!!!! That guy has killed his own band. The Sunshine office is spreading all kinds of BS around about Richie. They just fired a guy for talking to Richie. I know Jon very well and I ain't supported views nor will I ever. Dorothea has a lot to answer for. Jon you should, bottom line, not be doing this to Richie, none of us in the band agree with you. And yes Phil X… Your paycheck is $10,000 and this scandal has made you famous! Don't tweet BS!

Hopefully now the truth will finally come out about Jon. Everyone always says he's the nicest guy in rock and roll. Not so much. Another poster on here has implied about inside info, there's a lot of people in the area that know way more than they should. I'm one of them too. Jon, despite his philanthropy, is not the person he seems to be. So sad.
Richie, those that matter, we're all with you.

Let's put this straight: this is nothing more than a rumor. Neither the band, nor Richie have stated anything about him leaving the band. All there is is a comment from an anonymous source, combined with some stuff from months ago about him not being on the tour.
I'm not saying this isn't true, as I don't know that, but it's not something which has officially been announced or confirmed like this title and 'article' is suggesting, so the least you can do is have the decency to make it clear to people that this is a rumor…

I always like Jon til I saw him on "Ellen" the talk show. I saw through him that day that he is not as nice as he seems. He seemed bored and acted like he was just going through the motions. He could barely smile and didn't want to talk about his wife when asked about their long marriage and when his two biggest fans came on stage with them he barely looked at them and then as an afterthought he shook their hands as if he remembered he should do that for it to look good. He gave Richie the last two minutes of the show when the band sang together and never mentioned him. I changed my opinion of him after that show. No Bon Jovi with Richie.

I've seen Bon Jovi three times. NEVER again, I'm done. I read Ritchie makes millions off the tour and jbj is such a jerk he wants to buy a football team so he hired a guy for 10,000 a month so he doesn't have to pay Ritchie millions.

Ritchie Sambora Fan Fuck pretty boy jon

How could Jon LIE to Ellen Degeneres. Back in April JON went on the Ellen show and told Ellen that Richie could return "anytime" and that the door was open. NOT TRUE. Jon is a horrible "little" trouble making goblin who has tried to ruin his best pal life. Not good! Rcihie all the way!!!!!!

I am sorry but I will not believe a word of "rumours" until there is an official statement from either parties involved!
It annoys me to keep hearing this over and over again - they are entitled to some privacy but I do wish they would say something as its really upsetting for the die hard fans! I love and respect both parties and will continue to do so regardless of whether they split or not and as for Phil X, I have nothing but upmost respect for the guy. He came in to a difficult situation and the audiences have loved him because he didnt try to be Richie. I would like to say thank you to him for that as that takes guts.
Life is too short guys! Lets move on!

I think this guy hit it on the head in this op-ed piece… Essentially he was going to come back anytime soon until he cleans up. Then they can use it as a marketing ploy.

Richie is the soul of the Bon Jovi band, it is a shame that Jon and Dorthea ruined a 30 year legacy to buy a football team. SHAME ON YOU BOTH. Jon looks silly up on stage with that neanderthal looking Phil X and the other mummy band members- Looks like a bad Bon Jovi cover band. A Kind of Pirates Of The Caribbean Clown Show! Good going Jon, you Hack.

Just saw this on Nikki Lund, Richie's business partner. I want that T-shirt!!!

  13. 13

Also I hear that jon's wife dortheo wants ritchie out because Ritchie is a partier and bon jovis daughter is a herion addict so they want to blame Ritchie or some dumb shit like that.

    Fuck bon jovi

I'd go see Richie with a loaded new band featuring his axe/sounds inventiveness. I wouldn't go see BonJovi and the stale sets but did to see Richie and Jon and the rest together.
It's like Zep without Plant or Plant without Zep; anticlimactic.

    17

My Lord! You commenters are hanging Jon without any knowledge whatsoever. It's been well documented that Sambora was a druggie, womanizer, and he drank too much. I say it's about time Jon got rid of him! A good business man does what he has to do and if you don't like it, tough! And for those of you who don't want to see the band without Richie, you're not hurting Jon or his band. They'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

  18. 18

Re: CassieRe: @v@ – Plant with Alison Krauss was amazing.

  19. 19

I am a fan since 1984 but Jon is so full of himself I refuse to buy the albums or go to concerts anymore and Richie is right to look after himself. It started when they never allowed Hugh on the cover fotos.

The band will fall out of favor with the fans in the years that follow. Not good business sense Jon. Phil X won't stick around for long being paid only $10k. Greed is the factor here. I wish Richie all the best. He wasn't being paid equal or close to Jon. That was the personal issue. Without all the orignal members it is not BJ. End of that era!

it is sad- after 30 years!- but then unlike most British bands that stay together- (Stones, Led Zep), american bands (guns n' roses, van halen) all have their share of problems always- not sure what the deal here is at all-

  24. cm says – reply to this

    24

Jon hangs out with Dems like Obama so he's perfected lying. It's not Bon Jovi without Richie. Period.

  25. @v@ says – reply to this

    25

I'm betting both sides have their frustrations. It takes a bigger man to work through them,
forgive and rise above. Keeping the band together should be the main focus, not the gripes.

Bon Jovi will be finished if Richie decides not to allow them to use the songs he co-wrote with Jon all these years !!
I never miss a show in Montreal and have tickets for the November show, but we are really not looking forward to it anymore…..very sad !

Look at what happened with Kiss. Gene Simmons was full of himself and kicked Ace and Peter out of the band. Didn't have tremendous success again until they brought Ace and Peter back and put on the makeup again. Point is it wasn't Kiss without the original four and it won't be Bon Jovi without the original four

Re: Lori – I remember that. I like Jon too. The way I see it is if Jon was on his death bed, I guarantee that he'd be wishing he'd given his life long best friend whatever the h+ll he wanted. Same as if Richie were on his death bed. Some things transcend everything.

All the latest gossip is this ?…Why print the bust up story then print the substance abuse nonsense-the substance abuse story was a cover for the real bust up reason. … DUH !

Anyway, Bon Jovi gigs aren't what they were, anyone who says different has a poor memory or never went to the old gigs, even Jons voice is failing "these days".. I only went for nostalgia, now even that's gone…No Richie-no me.

  33. 33

I still don't understand the true Why? Why did Richie first no show with basically no warning. I do believe the reason it continues is different? Just hate to see 30 years so tarnished and the fans so bitter rivals. There are two sides to most thing, one can be more tarnished than the other… Love Richie's music best, personally. His current PR team however sux. The two "men" need to bring out a joint statement and stop this bs. If it's over, sad but life goes on. Doubt we will ever fully know the truth.

So sad that Richie Sambora has left Bon Jovi. The band will never be the same without him as he was a brilliant songwriter, brilliant guitarist - there is nobody like him.

I will always be a Richie Sambora fan.

So sad to see him go.

Re: JrzJen – So pray tell how do you know Jon so well and can make comments like this is it just out of meanness because Richie Walked out on the Fans that is Richie's doing. You can imply you "know" something when in fact you don't know Jon, you are not a friend of the family or of the band, you are just your own tabloid rag, spreading your own gossip, worry about your cruelty to others first as I have never seen nothing but goodness from Jon.

Re: Bon Jovi lover – I So agree with you they are all trying to make Jon the bad guy in all of this and Richie the perfect innocent one, yet Richie is the one that started this whole mess to begin with but again he is given a pass, he is not a great vocalist, he is okay as a backup or background but he doesn't have what it takes to draw the people in, he has no charisma or personality other than to play great guitar, his albums don't sell, a few people comment how good they are, the 100 people that bought them. But seriously they have to Stop Blaming Jon and cutting him down, if not for Jon no one would know who the hell Richie is, so they need to have a pity party for Richie elsewhere, Jon, Tico, David and now Phil X are Bon Jovi…Richie screw it up

Re: Donna – I hope Richie isn't that stupid again, because then Richie loses his 20% royalty on the songs and then what will Richie live on, the clothes line is already bombing and his albums are not selling and he isn't making his two million a month anymore for just sitting around, he will just have the royalties & maybe when he plays at tiny venues.

Re: puhnie – Was so glad I didn't get tickets to the Hyde Park gig it's not the same without Richie it's just as much his band as Jon's.
I noticed on the last couple of tours that the band as a whole bow at the end then the four founder members then Jon comes back and takes the bow himself, i think that one action tells it's own tale….In his eyes It's all about him!!! That has got to hack the other guys off. The guys got a huge ego and seems very false.
I'd pay to see Richie I'd close the curtains if Jon played in my back yard!!!
