It's tough to imagine Prince William having anything to be sad about, but the royal daddy has just endured a tragedy.
Lieutenant Colonel David Parkinson, a retired army officer, helped run the game preserve in Kenya where William proposed to Kate.
This Sunday a gang of 5 thieves broke into his house armed with machetes and a gun in the wee hours of the morning.
According to police, David was fatally wounded when the gang cut off his hand with a machete. His wife, who had thankfully escaped after being tied up by hiding in a storeroom until the robbers left, returned to find her husband dead.
All this senseless violence was done for a laptop, phone, some ornaments, bottles of wine, and £2, which were items stolen by the thieves.
According to one of William's press officers, the Prince was "saddened" by this news.
After a major manhunt, a suspect has been arrested.
So sad. Our hearts go out to David's family, and those who knew him!
