John Mayer Won't Be Singing Any Of His Old Songs On Tour! Why Georgia John, Why?!?

There's No Such Thing as a bad John Mayer show!

But if we're going to go see Johnny boy in concert, we would hope that he would bust out some of his earlier tunes!

Bad news, Mayer fans!

Poor John CAN'T sing any of his classic hits because his voice won't let him!

The singer-songwriter is currently In Repair after having two recent surgeries on his vocal cords! He now needs to rest his pipes until he's back to 100% again. John explained:

"[My voice is] coming back and it will come back all the way to where it was. All the early stuff, I can't do that full voice right now."

So for his upcoming tour, John will have to stick to singing only cuts off his newer albums, Born and Raised and Paradise Valley.

Womp womp…

Both of those records feature songs that John wrote while he still had his limited range. So he'll have no high notes to worry about trying to hit.

Most musicians might freak out if they were faced with losing the voice that made them a star. But not John! He's focused on the now, rather than the 'what if'! Mayer said of his situation:

"I'm not worried anymore, period. I'm not worried about pop hits, I'm not worried about sales, relevance. I care about one thing: tell your story. If you're on your sixth record and you're 35, you should be following wherever the road takes you. I want this story to unfold onstage now."

Maybe he can bring his lady Katy Perry up onstage to ROAR out the high notes if he needs to???

We'd definitely pay to see that show!

An appreciated fix for this is compiling a sweet and long medley of the cojoined favorites for the fans using the bars you can effectively crank out.

I just saw him in concert on 8/9/13. It was my third time seeing him in concert, and it was just as amazing as the first two times I saw him, if not better! AND he sang "My Stupid Mouth", "Your Body Is A Wonderland, " and "Why Georgia" that night. He had no problem hitting the notes, and he was very accommodating in playing what we wanted to hear. This "news" is a bunch of non-sense garbage. He IS playing his old songs at almost every single show on this tour, just check the setlist postings on John's own website!

Saw him 7/24 - he was amazing and the guitar jams were incredible. I think his new stuff is so much more wise and meaningful. Didn't miss the "old stuff at all, although like stated below, he still did some of it like "Wonderland" and "Dancing in a Burning Room." I think his new album is his best.

I saw him at his first show for this tour. He sang a few oldies but it was obvious his voice wasn't healed all the way since it would crack when he tried for a high note. I felt bad for him- love this guy the show was wonderful as always. But this was a good move this time around.

I saw both of his show in Brazil (Rio and São Paulo) and he did sing several old songs, including No Such Thing and Why Georgia! ;)
Maybe because that was his first time in Brazil, I don't know… Anyway, his songs are perfect, no matter if old or new ones!
