The pressure is on, but Harry Connick Jr. is hoping to live up to it!

It was announced earlier today that he'd be joining Jennifer Lopez to finish up the judging panel for American Idol alongside returning judge Keith Urban.

Even though he has appeared on the show as a mentor, it's a whole other ballgame when you're a judge. And Harry couldn't be more grateful for the chance to prove himself.

He said:

"I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show. And I am honored that they've asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way."

But he isn't the only one excited for his new role because Randy Jackson is celebrating coming BACK to Idol as an in-house mentor after announcing he was done as a judge last season. He said:

"Surprise, surprise! I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all. Season 1-3 is the place to be."

Well, season 13 will certainly be one to watch since the ratings have struggled and execs are probably planning some big shiz to revive it.

And yes, we mean bigger shiz than bringing back J.Lo…if it's possible to be bigger than that!

Good. I can watch it this year without looking at or listening the stupid bimbo Minaj.

Cool, I like HCJ. He seems down to earth and also seems a natural at this.

I'm so glad about these judges, and Randy will be a great mentor!!! Now that Nikki Minaj is gone, the show's ratings will go up for sure!

Perfect panel! I'm so glad they kept Keith Urban. I felt bad for him being in the middle of all of the drama last year. He deserved better because he was a really good judge. This is a better fit for him.

Bad choice imo. He's very knowledgeable when it comes to classic lounge/jazz acts, but he doesn't know jack about modern pop music

I like his music and might actually watch this year for the first time in years.

Harry Connick Jr. is too funny. Check out his photos and tweets at the American Idol Twitter page. Already some great comments and photos from the Boston audition at

The celebrities are just the mouth piece for the executive producers anyway, but I think these 3 "judges" will say things I actually want to hear. The producers already know who will be in there top 20 at this point. It's all smoke and mirrors
