Jack Nicholson Retired From Acting?! We Want The Truth!

Well, there goes Johnny!

According to a Hollywood source, acting legend Jack Nicholson has quietly retired.

The source says the 76-year-old Oscar-winner, who apart from Lakers games has stayed out of the public eye lately, does not plan on doing any more films.

Aww! The Shining star has been killing it as recently as 2006's The Departed! Why leave now? The source says:

"There is a simple reason behind his decision - it’s memory loss. Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him. His memory isn’t what it used to be."

Aww! How sad! We hope this isn't a sign of worse health issues. But if Jack has decided not to come back, we can only respect the decision.

After all, with such legendary films as Easy Rider and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest under his belt, he's already had one of the most successful movie careers of all time!

it's not sad, it's just aging. better to get out before it gets really bad. he's had a great career, no shame in that.

    Debunked

    Gossip cop :

    Nicholson is NOT retiring.

As NBC News correspondent Maria Shriver tells E!, the iconic actor has no plans to retire, is not suffering from any kind of memory-related illness, and is actively looking at scripts and considering future projects.

Re: overthere – Thanks for that overthere. He is a great actor and I could not blame him if he did want to retire. I just rewatched A Few Good Men with him and Tom Cruise while in Mexico in May while waiting for my sleepyhead friends to pick me up to go to breakfast. What a performance!

Questionable…but even if it were true, the industry has enough respect for Jack that they'd be totally fine feeding him his lines one at a time to cut.
