nicki minaj clive tanaka starships lawsuit

Nicki Minaj may be going from the warm beach into some hot water!

The hip hop diva is being sued by an EDM star named Clive Tanaka, who says Nicki's 2012 hit Starships is a straight rip-off of his earlier song, Neu Chicago!

Clive filed suit this week against Nicki herself, the song's three credited writers, and a producer over the alleged beat thievery.

Something tells us gurl won't be able to get out of this one just by signing an autograph!

So is there merit to Clive's claims? What do U think?

Ch-ch-check out both songs and compare for yourself …AFTER THE JUMP!!!

there's a few part where the beats are similar but it's a huge reach

They have a similar sound but not enough to say she stole it. I'd say only a few notes sound similar.

You can hear a 4/4 beat, but what song does not have a 4/4 beat? I agree its a reach!

I don't think this will get very far, this man is obviously trying to get some money since he can't seem to get it on his own.

If that is a rip off, so is Roar by Katy Perry (from Sarah Bareilles' Brave) and every other modern pop song. They all share the same beats, same tune, same dull and generic lyrics and themes. Ugh. YAWN.
