Looks like we're going to get to see Jon Hamm whip out his big, winding 14
inch episode arc in the final season of Mad Men in two, separated parts!
AMC has taken a page out of their other acclaimed show Breaking Bad's book (ahem, not Leaves of Grass), and granted Mad Men a two-part final season spread over 2014 and 2015.
"This approach has worked well for many programs across multiple networks, and, most recently for us with 'Breaking Bad,' which attracted nearly double the number of viewers to its second-half premiere than had watched any previous episode. We are determined to bring 'Mad Men' a similar showcase."
Meanwhile, Matthew Weiner, the man behind the helm of the show's drinking, cheating, and drinking because of cheating story structure, was ecstatic over the news:
"We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience. The writers, cast and other artists welcome this unique manner of ending this unique experience.”
This means AMC has two more attempts to pitch Jon as the Outstanding Leading Actor for the Emmys after this year for his huge, hard part in the show!
He's so sinfully good, he deserves to win at least once!
