Now the 30-year-old has taken to Instagram on Monday to speak out about the "private matter":

We sort of hope Merritt Wever wins the Emmy every year now after that legendary acceptance speech last night!
The Nurse Jackie star took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in an upset win over Mayim Bialik, Jane Lynch, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Jane Krakowski and Anna Chlumsky!
Merritt, who many probably also know as Schmidt's "other" girlfriend Elizabeth on New Girl, kept the awkward hilarity rolling as she walked the press line backstage at the Emmys too!
When reporters asked Merritt if she wanted to thank anyone, now that she had time to compose herself, she answered:
"I want to thank a lot of people…it's happening again!"
Don't worry, Merritt got it together, took some deep breaths and finally got out the names of those she wanted to recognize. She told the press:
"I wanted to thank everyone at Showtime. I wanted to thank most of all Edie Falco. I'm scared, honestly. I'm scared. I'm scared because it was unexpected. I don't know how to feel yet. I have therapy next week!"
It's OK, Emmy winner! It's ALL going to be OK!
