Stephen King Calls Twilight Tweenage Porn?!

Our beloved Twilight? Porn? Nonsense!

So, Stephen King isn't keeping Twilight and Hunger Games series on his shelves, because he finds them to be “tween porn.”

The author tells The Guardian:

"They're really not about vampires and werewolves. They're about how the love of a girl can turn a bad boy good."

Gasp! It can be about both! Are you saying girls can't turn a bad boy good?

He goes on to say:

"I read Twilight and didn't feel any urge to go on with her. I read The Hunger Games and didn't feel an urge to go on. I read Fifty Shades Of Grey and felt no urge to go on. They call it mommy porn, but it's not really mommy porn. It is highly charged, sexually driven fiction for women who are, say, between 18 and 25.”

So what's the name of the porn for that age bracket then? First we have tweenage and now… ? Oh, we guess just porn, LOLz!

Well, Stephen, we don't feel the urge to go on with your books either! Because quite frankly, they scare the bejeezus out of us!

Just kidding, but yikes! The 65-year-old author sure is critical of these popular novels.

We're guessing you won't be first in line this November to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

HA!

I'd watch 18-25 year old tweenage porn ANYDAY over twilight and I'd watch twilight any day over mommy porn.

Interesting considering a quote from his review of Hunger Games is featured on the cover jackets…

Regardless of the fact that this story is about as old as the Taj Mahal, he does have a point. A completely accurate one even.

I'm not sure Hunger Games belongs in this category…while its nothing earth shattering writing wise, there's nothing sexually driven about it. But yeah, he's dead right about the other two.

He's absolutely right! And Twilight is the most poorly written crap out there, that's probably what he objects to as well.

I mean, he's said this stuff before. The Hunger Games one is strange to me, though, because he's got a quote praising it on the cover, and it really isn't about the love story part so it doesn't fit well in that category.
But everything else is totally true.

Twilight can't be considered porn - porn usually has a plot, acting and even a reason to watch it again.

He's right about their merits, but dead wrong about who's buying these feces. "Twilight" was mostly a middle-school phenomenon, and the adult females who read "Shades" and "Twilight" are older than 26 by far, but aren't normally the audience for any books whatsoever. I think the term– in elementary education at least– is "reluctant readers." So no worries for any author trying to sell anything with plot, believable characters, and complicated exposition. No worries, of course, except for the dumbing down of the feces readers.
