Gay Marriage Is Gonna Happen In The Garden State! New Jersey Judge Rules In Favor!

It looks like New Jersey is about to become the 14th United State to legalize same-sex marriage!!!

Today, Judge Mary Jacobson of the Mercer County Superior Court ruled that gay couples can marry in the Garden State starting October 21!

Judge Jacobson concluded that the rights given to gay couples under the state's civil unions law are not equal to the federal benefits now granted to married gay couples, following the Supreme Court ruling from this summer!

According to Jacobson:

"The ineligibility of same-sex couples for federal benefits is currently harming same-sex couples in New Jersey in a wide range of contexts. Same-sex couples must be allowed to marry in order to obtain equal protection of the law under the New Jersey Constitution."

Sing it sister!

Now however, we can expect an appeal from Governor Chris Christie, who has said in the past that he opposes allowing gay couples to marry in New Jersey.

Although, the Governor DID just sign into a law a statewide ban on gay conversion therapy, so MAYBE he'll change his tune?

We shall see!!!

We need an across-the-board decision by the Federal Government. Here in TN, they’ve gone as far as to create a new holiday- “Traditional Marriage Day” in which the wording of the bill quotes The Holy Bible. Why does the State feel it has the right to continually define marriage? Exactly what is “Traditional” Marriage in Tennessee seeing as even Interracial Marriage is STILL outlawed by the State Constitution along with Same Sex Marriage?

Christie is probably going to appeal it. Anti-conversion is completely different from allowing gays to marry. Its not going to happen on his term.

I wish people would realize, that the ones who benefit most from gay marriage are the attorneys
If you get legally married, than you need to get legally divorced, and can end up paying alimony, and child support (unless your Rosie O'Donnell)

The federal government legalized interracial marriage in all the states in one swoop. Why cant it do this for gay marriage? Why do gays have to fight state by state when interracial couples didnt have to go through all those baby steps?
