Jay Z Says He'll Be A Good Sports Agent Because He Was A Good Drug Dealer!

It's no secret that Jay Z came up in the school of the hard knocks, but recently, the biggest name in hip-hop opened up about his days of drug dealing and shared some pretty mind-blowing deets about his upbringing!

H.O.V.A. admitted to selling crack on the streets but swears he never used it himself. For him, it was just business.

And he says his experience slinging rock might actually come in handy as he gears up to try his hand as a sports agent!

Jay explained to Vanity Fair magazine how what he learned on the streets will be useful in his next enterprise, saying:

“I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer. To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. At some point, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small; you’re going to get locked up or you’re going to die.”

Crack was a constant in young Jay Z's life. He has memories from his youth that will not go away, no matter how much time goes by. He recalled some particulars about his neighborhood, saying:

"It was inescapable. There wasn’t any place you could go for isolation or a break. You go in the hallway; crackheads in the hallway. You look out in the puddles on the curbs; crack vials are littered in the side of the curbs. You could smell it in the hallways, that putrid smell; I can’t explain it, but it’s still in my mind when I think about it.”

Of course, Mr. Shawn Carter has come a long way from his time in the Marcy Houses. He's now worth millions, he's married to Beyoncé, and he's changed the history of music forever.

So does he ever feel guilty about contributing to a drug crisis that continues to grow out of control? Jay Z explained:

"Not until later, when I realized the effects on the community. I started looking at the community on the whole, but in the beginning, no. I was thinking about surviving. I was thinking about improving my situation. I was thinking about buying clothes.”

The important thing is that you made it out, Jay. The past is the past. Just focus on living in the now, and signing more sports superstars!

I know about budgets too. I grocery shop. To grocery shop you have to know how much you can spend, and what you need to make it through the week. At some point you need a menu strategy because your window is very small, you're going to disappoint your family, or you're going to starve. Does that make me a potential sports agent too? Maybe he will be as good a sports agent as Kanye is a fashion designer.

Above board business ventures would be a natural and more legal transition.

Wait till his daughter is leveled by the same drug dealers and scum he proves he is. And it will happen. He'll pick up his knife again. White people have lives no different than he grew up in and if selling drugs and welding a knife makes him a good sports agent, he's right. Look at the freaks he'd have picked as a sports agent.. he'd be selling them drugs and they would buy them as they are now. JayZ is a douche. His wife has made his life easy for she is truly beautiful .. Look at the verses in Kanye's crap rap/rock defiling Jesus, bashing women and racist with all the trash and these two, JayZ and Kanye are buddies….they are both rich but scum

He's not doing the kids in that neighborhood any favors by talking about his deeds like it is a positive thing. Beyonce is a pretty girl & talented but in terms of being a fan, I'm very middle of the road on her. But have to ask, what does she see in this guy? In terms of looks , she really could have done ALOT better.

This dude got so far with so little talent. His rhythms are mediocre, at best. He "borrows" a lot from biggie. He is a person with little moral character. I love to see him explain to his daughter his disgusting and disparaging lyrics regarding woman. He is a clown. Beyoncé loses points in my books for marrying him. She set the bar way too low.

I just got trashed for saying black rappers are a bad role model for kids (how dare me say something that ignorant)… and now the first article I see after that article is some black rapper bragging about having been a good drug dealer. "he changed the music industry?"
Rap is still the same old rap it ever was: garbage. You cant change garbage into anything but .. a bigger pile of garbage.

i don't think that he's trying to glorify the fact that he was a drug dealer. He is just reflecting on how he learned about budgets and how to hustle. Yes he learned on the street, not from an accredited university. He has made mistakes in the past, who hasn't but he's sitting here today trying to change that image not only for himself but his wife and daughter. Beyonce wouldn't have married this guy unless she knew he would be a good husband.

His mother had a good job in finance! He wasn't dirt poor, I really don't get it how he grew up in the ghetto.

Re: rosebud99 – u just talked about grocery shopping as if it has similarities to real bussinesses, you're a fucking idiot.. DISMISSED

Re: val – Jay seems to have gotten where he is through really hard work and savvy. He hasn't been able to rely on looks or great vocal chords.. That makes him appealing in my books. The more I learned about him since he worked to change his life, the better looking he gets. Shrugs. Old lives either do you in, or are character building.

  16. 16

Re: MizzBooBoo – Let me dumb it down for you. I was being sarcastic. Selling drugs is no more relevant to being a sports agent than grocery shopping. Get it?
