Thursday afternoon saw quite the scare in the Capitol, as gunfire erupted, causing a swarm of emergency respondents to appear in the area and address the emergency that locked down Congress.
While details were scarce before, we're now learning that the Secret Service says the female suspect slammed into a gate on the south side of White House, and then she fled to the Capitol.
She was initially pursued for suspicious driving, and as her move to the White House became apparent, the Secret Service got involved and she was then reportedly pursued by them.
Amidst this, police also enacted force as she got closer to the White House. And this is where the presumed shots were fired. As news got to the Capitol, it is believed that's when the lockdown was presumably enacted.
So far, there was one injury to a police officer reported, though no further details are available at this time.
House and Senate sessions were immediately suspended. Stay tuned for more updates.
