lady gaga accused of stealing song r kelly one

Yikes!

Plenty of artists have been accused over the years of stealing or copying another song for their own new music, and now Lady GaGa is at the center of another controversy.

With her new release, Do What You Want featuring R. Kelly, out for fans to enjoy, she's being hit with some serious thievery accusations!

It seems her song has a beat that some think sounds an awful lot like Dance with the Dead's The Deep. While the band has spoken out about them not thinking the two are similar, fans are still claiming a copycat!

Ch-ch-check out both songs and judge for yourself…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Of course Perez failed to mention the fact that "Do What U Want" has gone number 1.

  2. 2

Someday this cow is going to sue the shit out of you for your constant slander. I hope she takes you to the cleaners; I, along with millions of others, will have a huge laugh about it. Maybe you and Mongo will enjoy life on the streets.

  3. 3

Oh I see, "ITS THE SMOKEY EYE LOOK". The lady from the yogurt commercial is going to either be pissed or flattered, not sure which!

  4. 4

This song is so amazing. Haters gonna hate Perez, ARTPOP is shaping up to be sick

  5. CK says – reply to this

    5

And yet when even more people were bringing up the similarities between "Brave" and "Roar", you were too far up Katy Perry's ass to even mention it on your site.

  6. 6

They don't even have the same chord progression, also the artist already stated they sounding nothing alike.

  7. Beverly says – reply to this

    7

So the band themselves say it wasn't thievery, but you feel the need to shame her anyway in your quest to constantly try to humiliate Lady Gaga.

The truth it, Perez, that you haven't changed one bit. You're still a bully, and I feel bad for your son, being raised by such a spiteful, petty human being.

    So sad.

  8. Hi Haters says – reply to this

    8

Dear Perez, ¿Why you don't talk about how the song is #1 in a lot of countries inclusive USA? Bye :*

  9. 9

It's not going unnoticed that you posted this story but didn't really post anything about Katy Perry stealing 'Brave' from Sare Bareilles

  10. 10

perez gets half his stuff from other sites, good thing no one sues his ass YET

  11. *** says – reply to this

    11

ARTPOP must be coming out soon. Perez is getting antsy.

  12. Delilah says – reply to this

    12

Of course the only thing you post about her is something negative. You're just mad because she's #1. Stay mad. You're a pathetic excuse for a human being and she's amazing. I know jealousy is a powerful emotion, but just shut the fuck up already.

  13. Justin says – reply to this

    13

'cmon perez. wake up and realize that everyone gets influenced by other people. Roar sounds exactly like Brave by Sara Bareilles. Why don't you be the bigger person and congratulate her for going number 1 with a song that tears the critics down?

  14. TBH says – reply to this

    14

i pressed play on the songs at the same time and the overlap to the point i could not seperate which song was which.

  15. Isaac says – reply to this

    15

I was going to lash out and bring up your one sided reporting but it seems that your readers, a majority of them, see what you're doing. Failing to mention how it's Number 1, How Roar was a copycat, and other things. Perez, please have some dignity as a reporter and report FACTS. Not accusations that even the ARTISTS themselves say is inaccurate!

  16. Gabriel says – reply to this

    16

OMG, gaga is so revolucionary! she is the first pop artist using sample of another song!! spread!

  17. Rob says – reply to this

    17

"In music, sampling is the act of taking a portion, or sample, of one sound recording and reusing it as an instrument or a sound recording in a different song or piece." Lets get educated.

  18. josh says – reply to this

    18

Seriously Perez? Enough with the Lady Gaga hate already, it's now pretty obvious that you are very immature over things. Get over the fued and move on. I'm not a crazy Gaga fan - I like a few of her songs like most people but you are seriously obsessed over making stupid articles about her. I hope her new album does ridiculously well to see what you can grab from that to get those all important views on your site! Pathetic. It's bullying and you are the BULLY. You put a bad name on Gays.

  19. Mandolynne Weese says – reply to this

    19

Yikes! You didn't report when everyone else was reporting Katy 'ripped off' the song "Brave". Yes, they sound the same but you're still a hypocrite biased baby who I still LOVE but god dammit Perez lol.

  20. 20

I can think of many more topics to focus on now, including Justin Timberlake's hair plugs, Justin Bieber and Usher's romance and Diddy's little boys. This GaGa bashing has got to stop.

  21. KatyCatEmily says – reply to this

    21

You're almost too stupid to function. Did a fellow Gaga hater give this info to you? DJ White Shadow, the producer responsible for Do What U Want, has already confirmed that they sampled 'Deep' by Dance With The Dead. I don't understand how long you can keep this slander up for because your son is going to get the same treatment from others when he's older. Shame on you Perez. Just remember karma is the biggest bitch *Aura laugh*

  22. 22

Of course the beat is the same but if the band is ok with it than there shouldn't be anything to be said about it any more. I'll be honest and say this song will definitely fare out good on the radio, but the other 7 she performed at Itunes were super meh.

  23. Agree says – reply to this

    23

This was on Dancing w the Dead's FB page:

Hey guys…..so we were a little confused finding a ton of emails this morning asking if we had collaborated with Lady Gaga and asking if she sampled our song *The Deep* in her new single "Do what you want". Truth is we heard nothing about it. We've listened Gaga's song, and it is definitely not a sample or a copy of The Deep, and we think the songs don't sound alike in any way

  24. Samantha Bell says – reply to this

    24

The beat is the same in timing yes, but your little poll doesn't present many options here. It isnt the same chord progression, and tons of songs have the same beat. Avril Lavigne's 'Girlfriend' and 'Hey Mickey' by Toni Basil have the same beat. 'Black Skinhead' and 'Personal Jesus'? I mean come on, you'd have to have literally no sense of rhythm not to notice that.
Dude, if the band, the people who originated this beat, arent kicking up a fuss then everyone else needs to cool it.

I would have preferred a 'Similar, but totes immaterial' option.

  25. Cole says – reply to this

    25

That's a classic 80s electronic riff. Ladyhawke uses a similar riff in her song, "Magic." If the Dream doesn't have a problem with it, then why make a big deal about it. At least they didn't go all Madonna on her and throw around words like "reductive."

  26. Bleh says – reply to this

    26

I don't like Perez, but he's just reporting what the fans think. Regardless, the two songs' intros do sound similar. Very similar. Like, how do you people not realize this?

  27. 27

I only listened to the first 24 seconds of each song. I'm not sure about the rest of each track, but the first 24 seconds sounds amazingly similar to one another.

  28. Charlotte Guy says – reply to this

    28

Let it go Perez - you are making yourself look foolish. Your another version of Donald Trump, just let it go and move on.

  29. 29

Sorry but I did not care for either song, but I did not think they sounded alike.

  30. emilio says – reply to this

    30

why perez??????? why always negative stuff about her??? why???? honestly deep down u know shes effing awesomely talented…. copy or not, inspired or not in the song.. u know DO YOU WHAT YOU WANT BY GAGA IS WAY BETTER

  31. Michael Schirmer says – reply to this

    31

They sound nothing alike. Yeah they both have the sweeping electronic riff, but they are both entirely different songs and the riffs while similar are timed totally differently.
So this is a hyped up rumor that has no substance.

  32. mariachristina says – reply to this

    32

You are pathetic. I'm so tired of this. Get over yourself "Perez". Gaga obviously has moved on - again I reiterate, you are pathetic.

  33. XYZ says – reply to this

    33

Re: Bleh – I don't think most of the people here doubt that they sound similar, but if he's reporting what fans think, why didn't he report on the Roar/Brave similarities? People are calling him out on his hypocrisy.

  34. Mike says – reply to this

    34

Mario, I am so tired of your constant GaGa hate. It is so transparent. I can't stand you anymore.

  35. MizzBooBoo says – reply to this

    35

Perez the leader of Dance With The Dead just said that the songs sound nothing alike & DJ White Shadow produced this track so ur really saying that he stole it, which he didnt. The song is #1 anyways so who gives a fuck about what ur hating ass has to say, you're a bully & you just proved that once again. Report facts & not a biased opinion. Facts are both artists say the songs are nothing alike & another fact is that its #1.. eat ur heart out u fucking bully!

Don't be fooled by her idiotic fans they are the shortbus people of the world. Only retarded gays in their 20's (and even more sad in their 30's) and uncool kids.

  38. Leo says – reply to this

    38

Man, it's just too sad that a successfull blogger like Perez feels the need to keep bashing someone else, like he does against Lady Gaga. It does not only sound unprofessional, but immature as well. Don't you have a son? Aren't you like 35+? Man, stop hating. I'm not even a Gaga fan, but I gotta tell you that you only look like a crying baby. Gaga's turned the page apparently: working on a new album, promoting it like most can't, making money. What about you? Holding grudges like a child, getting it seen by 6 milion people if you're lucky. Doesn't Gaga has like 7x more followers/fans? I don't think your bashing will be effective. It's not even healthy. You'll be happier when you let things go. If someone doesn't want you as a friend, that's their loss. Besides, not sure if you believe in God or whatever, we shouldn't be wishing others those things we wouldn't like to happen to us. Hope you think about it, at least while you read this. Email me, if anything.

No matter what you say Perez, she still is the queen…she puts on the BEST show, has the most talent and is the most unique…NO one can take that from her…LOVE you GAGA and cannot wait for your album and tour…She is the best…

  40. 40

Yep, similar. but pretty catchy song. Starting to think this site is secretly promoting her though. I mean going through all the trouble uploading her song. Deep down she thanks you.

  41. Danny says – reply to this

    41

Wow, so an Artist's creation sounds a bit similar to someone who made a beat. It's not like the Britney faux pas of Hold it Against me where the lyrics were stolen.

  42. @v@ says – reply to this

    42

Dances with the Dead clip = superior production.
    They sound awfully familiar.

  43. 43

Music copies all the time. We hear stories like this on the constant, but nothing ever comes of them. I'm pretty sure Katy Perry's Roar also had a copycat incident to a Sara Bareilles song. Music borrows beats all the time. It's if the lyrics are exactly the same is where I would think "plagiarism". All the first song was a beat over and over.

  44. SayWhatYouWant says – reply to this

    44

Let's hope that, on your next post about Lady Gaga, you can say that Katy's 2nd single is a HUGE FLOP on iTunes (currently it's at #161) while Lady Gaga PROMOTIONAL SONG is #1 in over 30 countries ;)

  45. 45

For a moment I was thinking Oh Gaga is original with this album and wouldn't copy but low and behold I they DO for a FACT sound so much alike. To her default it could be that she relied on a producer to put beats out while she takes care of the vocals and lyrics. Most artists that aren't super famous get their beats stolen from producers to different studios thinking that unknown artist won't have a hit with it so they'll steal it then give it to a famous artist then the famous artist doesn't know how it came at their studio they just come in on appointment and co write lyrics and vocals then leave… It would be cool if the artist's label can validate original beats and just postpone release because of copyright infringe case but that's how a middle class or working class citizen thinks. These rich record labels don't have time for that! They'll just release it out in time and secretly love the good or bad press it gets and are so used to going through courts paying off the plaintiffs so they get their way at the end.

  46. 46

is he not aware of how he makes himself look posting this?

  47. 47

why does she have to always copy doesnt she have any talent of her own she looks like a retarded panda

  48. 48

Definitely the same beat and everything. If she doesn't credit them with a sample then she stole it for sure. I agree with others tho that you didn't post much about Katy Perry ripping off the incredibly talented Sara Bareilles. Katy stole the sound and message of that song. Then Katy's people say Roar was recorded first, which is BS! Sara's album came out this spring and Katy waited till October. Both Katy and Gaga have stole music, just like Beyonce. It's ridiculous. Great artists like Bareilles get ignored while these fame whores get all the airplay. It isn't fair. Sara should have more Grammys than these two.

    56

Dance with the Dead released a statement saying they don't hear it as a copy. Why are you so negative? How self conscious you must be to post rude things on the internet.

  57. 57

She is one of only 5 musicians that the press covers, so it really doesn't matter anymore:
Music and the music business, has been reduced to 5 auto tuned sound alikes. These 5 get more media attention than all the other musicians in the world, combined. Corporate music has marginalize the rest into footnotes. It has been decreed by the suits that you will not have any real career in music unless you are Beyonce, Beiber, Gaga, Perry, or Swift. (and maybe runnerups 1D, JT, and Miley).

Then too there is the guy from Dallas, Hunkasaurus and His Pet Dog Guitar, leading the revolution against the suits and for the marginalized - but he's been banned by everyone in the music business for being too fun.

Hunkasuarus = One standard guitar, one voice, and one revolution.

It makes you look real bad… we get it, you don't like Gaga anymore. let's face it though, you won't be able to destroy her. you shouldn't want to destroy her. BTW you have said in the past that what she has done to you was unimaginable… please come out with it already… I just have this feeling that it's not terrible enough for you to be constantly bashing her… PEACE!

Gaga wants to look cool by joining in the 80's retrofest. Quite easy really: just tweak around with the beat of an underprotected/less known artist and earn big bucks for your "creation". And dumbasses believe this is the 'best'. WE know better.

You Perez are the biggest BULLY out there, you just use your site to pick on people you think did something wrong to you and kiss up soooooo bad to others. You once went on Ellen and said you were going to change your ways, well you have not done that only gotten worse. Why don't you try to play fair, I am sorry you are so upset that GaGa wants nothing to do with you, get over it and stop being such a jerk. never heard the bands song but to me this is a pure and utter open your heart (madonna) rip off…and its not sampling its rip off. I loved gagas first album, born this way is just utter tripe, Applause is garbage and a rip off of everything including girl gone wild. I still thinks she is better than this and maybe gaga should disapear for a year or two, write some good original songs and then trounce back…she is talented but she has lost it and music fans are ficle these days and will soon move on.

  87. JJ says – reply to this

    87

Re: paulorr – In order for Lady Gaga to be a Madonna tribute act, Madonna would first have to sound good and not like stray cats when she sings. That's the difference between the two artists and probably the reason that Madonna is so transparently jealous. Just like Perez, the guy who copied his name from Paris Hilton. As for this song, its perfect!

  88. estafel says – reply to this

    88

it isn't just the beat, and it isn't only for a few moments. turn gaga's up louder. if you are unable to decipher the notes exactly, it is because they cross-fade into one another. there was a bit of tweaking, but there is no doubt that by unlikely accident - or through intent - the tracks are nearly identical. hilton is not responsible for this, it isn't his fault. whomever it was that recreated the song for gaga (or gag if she did) is to blame.
