Even in a paper bag, this gal looks glorious!!
Quasi-retired for several years now, pop starlet and songwriting genius Sia sat down with Billboard magazine recently for a rare candid interview about her past, present, and future in the biz!!
Though she's planning a new album for 2014, Sia says she's super comfy writing songs for others. Not only is it totally lucrative, but she has more time to chill at home with her doggies!!
"I don't care about commercial success. I get to do what I love and communicate whatever I want…I get to sit at home with the dogs on the sofa, record in a closet in the office, send them off and, if I'm lucky, make a million dollars."
It wasn't always so easy, though.
Sia spoke about her past troubles, of which there were many. She said:
"All I wanted to do was write for pop stars. For one reason or another it never happened for me. Then I got seriously addicted to Vicodin and Oxycodone, and I was always a drinker but I didn't know I was an alcoholic. I was really unhappy being an artist and I was getting sicker and sicker."
Thankfully, things have taken a turn for the better. In fact, with recent hits with Flo Rida, and sweet singles on The Great Gatsby and Catching Fire's soundtrack, Sia is pretty convinced she's figured out the formula for success.
"People like victory, victim to victory, and party time… Songs that have a negative chorus and sad songs without an uplifting chorus are harder to place."
Sounds like you know your shiz, gurl!! We bet you're going to bring it for your next album!
