Julianne Hough's Fellow DWTS Friends Come To Her Defense Following Blackface Scandal!

Is it hot in here?!

Because Julianne Hough is still taking some serious heat for her controversial OITNB Halloween costume!

Even though she's apologized via Twitter for her Crazy Eyes moment, many of her celeb pals—including Dancing With The Stars dancer Val Chmerkovskiy, are coming to her defense!

Val specifically reveals that Jules didn't mean any harm, saying:

"I know Julianne personally and none of the critique that she is getting at all relates to her as a person, period. Whether it was a smart decision is a different conversation. But the intention, and going deep into the conversation of judging her character, of what she may or may not think behind the scenes — that is absurd."

And comedian/ DWTS contestant Bill Engvall believes the 25-year-old doesn't have "a mean bone in her body," confessing:

"Fortunately or unfortunately, in this day and age with 24-hour coverage and social media and all that, you got to be careful with what you do. And (Hough) would no more make any kind of racist statements than anybody on the earth. And so I would say it was probably just an innocent mistake. … Trust me, I've had things taken the way I didn't want things."

We're hoping this exceptionally unflattering moment for the blonde actress blows over soon!

We think everyone's (hopefully) learned their lesson here!

I think people are overreacting…it's not the 50's anymore

people need to get over it. I dont know much about this woman, but it clearly was just an homage to the character on orange is the new black. It's halloween, this is absurd that anyone is taking it offensively! Havent we reached a point where dressing up as other races are ok!?

People REALLY need to relax!! I've done this for a halloween costume when I was Flavor Flav and the black people LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDD it!

I think people are seriously overreating to this..
Only people with closed minds can consider this to be racism in any way, shape, or form.
It is a Hallowe'en costume, that is all. And you would think that in a world where we strive for equality, that this costume would be accepted and encouraged. She clearly did not choose this costume based on color, she chose this because she enjoys the show and the character.

I think Julianne Hough is Z-list trash. That aside, the people who play the race card are the ones who profit from it; yes, even the ape-faced queer who owns this crappy site. It PAYS him to post shit like this. Don't be drawn in; tell the homo to stop being a libtard piece of shit, and hit him where it hurts, in his wallet (he'd have to have balls to be hurt if hit in the crotch, and the homo is a spineless, nutless twat).

Biggest non issue thus far this year.

Ummmm, this isn't black face…more like orange face! She looks like the lady that over tanned herself and her kid.

This isn't true black face. Had she said she was Tan Mom, no one would be loosing their minds. Grow some skin.

seriously though, as a black man I get how actual "Black Face" is considered racist and the reasons for it- but she didn't have black face on. She was just portraying a well-known tv character. i'm sick of the ancient side of the black community always crying racism for no fuking reason! They're just as bad as the racists they hate so much and i honestly cannot wait until all racists & those who have fully adopted the "victim" mentality of racism all die off so that the earth can finally focus on more than just color! good fucking damn i can't wait. ignorant & racist blacks are keeping racism alive!

Re: The Truthinator – Man you have a lot of hate in you. I feel sorry for you, that has to feel like shit.

    Re: KayCee – thank you!

  14. REALLY??? says – reply to this

are you serious? IT"S A HALLOWEEN COSTUME!! That's what u do on Halloween you dress UP!!! I am bi-racial and so sick of this crap! Should we say that every white skinned person who goes into a tanning bed is trying to mock people with darker skin???? Black people wear blonde wigs and should we ban every costume that has to do with ethnic back round? Stop it people if we are ever going to be considered just people then we need to stop always pointing out skin tone PEREZ!!!!!

  15. 15

    blacks are very sensitive.

  16. 16

Stop beating this to death. She was not being racist and should not have felt she needed to

  17. Doncha just know says – reply to this

That's not blackface. That's tan face. Nobody would ever mistake her for a black person.

  18. 18

I fail to see where this is a big deal, especially, since it wasn't done in a malicious way. I mean, I wouldn't be the least bit offended if a black person went in white face for a costume. Let's say a black guy's a huge fan of the Walking Dead and wanted to go as Darryl for Halloween. More people would get who he was if he went in white face and I don't think any of us white people would be offended.

  19. 19

its an effing halloween costume people! on halloween u dress urself as someone else or something else. if people are offended by this then we should be offended by every halloween costume!

Re: Annie – I wish she hadn't apologized because this is a non-issue. She's given in to the haters and needs to grow a backbone.

  21. 21

I think people are overreacting. She and her friends dressed up as characters from a tv-show, there are black people in the show, she's portraying the character. I don't think she'd be so stupid as to make fun of or degrade black people. She might not have thought it through completely but if she doesn't see anything wrong with being black, then of course she wouldn't think it through, she's just playing dress up.

  22. 22

I seriously hate how society is today. Black people can make comments and racial jokes about any race but when any other race does it to them, god forbid we're the bad guys. She did nothing wrong, she doesn't even look black, she looks more like she got a bad tan.

  23. 23

    but paula dean is crucified…

  24. 24

AHHH, give the WORST ACTRESS ON THE PLANET a break — I mean, really, who knew BLACK FACE was taboo in Hollywood? C'mon it's not as bad as dressing up as Hitler in Hollywood. Oh wait, scratch that. Nevermind. What an IDIOT!

I used to think that Juliane Hough was a pretty and talented person. Now I know that she's just pretty ignorant. No apology can change the damage you've done. Next time think first.

  26. 26

the fact ppl think this is ok is proof racism is alive and well. You come across as very ignorant.
