The "s" in Illinois may be silent, but it's freedom loving people are not!
Thanks to a recent march on the State Capitol by its freedom loving citizens, Illinois will become the 15th state in the Union to have legalized same-sex marriages!
The state Senate passed the wonderfully awesome marriage equality bill earlier this afternoon and it's is expected to be signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn soon!
"It feels kind of obvious. Why wouldn't we treat everyone the same?"
We agree completely!!!
Earlier this year President Barack Obama spoke out in support of the Illinois measure and we wouldn't be surprised if that's one of the reasons it passed!
To that we can only say, "Thanks, Obama!!!" LOLz!!!
Assuming the governor signs the bill into law, which he already promised he would do, same-sex marriages will officially become legal in Illinois on June 1, 2014.
Congratulations to everyone who fought so hard to ensure equality for all couples who love each other!!! We're guessing there might be a few epic parties in the Boystown part of Chicago tonight!
15 down, 35 more to go!!!
