Perez Reviews: The Glass Menagerie - On Broadway!

menagerie

The new revival of The Glass Menagerie on Broadway is worth seeing, purely for the performance of Cherry Jones.

Best known to TV audiences from her work on 24, the actress really shines on stage and commands the audience's attention at the Booth Theater - whenever she speaks or is just standing there. In fact, her presence is so powerful that it lingers when she's off stage too!

It is truly a Tony-worthy performance!

Menagerie is not one of our favorite plays from Tennessee Williams. It relies far too much on narration and not that much action happens in Act 1.

John Tiffany does a fine job directing, but Bob Crowley's scenic design - or lack thereof - left much to be desired.

As far as the other performers, Celia Keenan-Bolger was solid. Brian J. Smith was barely in the show. And, Zachary Quinto, while good, unfortunately attempted a very specific Southern accent that he just couldn't pull off and that had mostly disappeared by the end of Act 2.

Jones, however, is a Tennessee native and radiates not just authenticity but also brilliance in this production. See it for her! She is giving us some Meryl!!!

On what planet do you think you are qualified to give a review of anything? Certainly not one in the Andromeda Galaxy.

Almost word fro word by a real critic over a week ago.

Now you are stealing their review and calling it yours.

    Re: The Truth
I doubt any critic would write this bad. It has a " and one day at band camp " feel to it. Hopefully these reviews will go away like his, Can you sing competitions, which NEVER produced a star, his inspireless Perezisms and those ATROCIOUS Youtube videos which always had more thumbs down.

"She is giving us some Meryl!!!"

Despite the obvious statement, that Perez Hilton is in no way, qualified to write a theatre review, how about giving Cherry Jones some credit. She has been a well respected actress, in her own right, for many years. She doesn't need to be compared to Meryl Streep , as if she is the only great actress working today. Its actually humorous that you name drop Meryl in connection to Jones, because Meryl did Jones' brilliant lead role in DOUBT on film. Many have said, as good Meryl might be in the role, she never came close to the brilliance of Jones' portrayal on stage.
