Tom Cruise Thinks Acting Is As Tough As Fighting In Afghanistan!

Tom Cruise thinks that acting is as tough as riding into an actual danger zone!

In a recent deposition for his libel case against a magazine that claimed he abandoned Suri, Tom said that location shoots were similar to serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan:

"That's what it feels like. And certainly on this last movie, it was brutal. It was brutal."

Tom would be correct IF the soldiers in Afghanistan were only using prop guns, no one died, and your enemies were actually paid extras.

Other than that…yeah, it's still absolutely nothing like modern warfare.

Hmm we don't think Tom can fully know what serving time in the military "feels like" unless he actually served time in the military. We're not 100% sure, but most like acting in Born on the Fourth of July doesn't count towards that.

If you'll excuse us, we have to facepalm, shake our head, and groan for half an hour after learning about this.

And let's not forget that when Princess Tom is working he has a team of people catering to his every need. And of course the huge pay checks. This narcissist, ignorant ass has just insulted everyone who has ever served in the military. I wonder how many people will see his movies now?

Tom has proven once again that he is a complete jackass.

My husband did two tours in Afghanistan. I can assure you Mr. Cruise that he did not get to rest in a posh trailer or ritzy hotel room. In fact, his room was 12 x 12 (if lucky) in a shipping container that was converted into multiple rooms. Oh & let's not forget the mortar attacks…oh yeah, yeah, shooting a movie is JUST like being in Afghanistan. Go fornicate yourself, Tom.

he is so delusional. remember when he did Rock of Ages and claimed a 4 octave range?
but this new claim is so insulting to the military. have some respect for our military who put themselves in harms way so that you can prance around on a movie set pretending to be something you are not.

The context of the case make it sound like he was talking about being away from his family for extended periods of time. If that's the case, then this site is deliberately misleading people to think he said something he didn't, shocking I know. /sarcasm You people can get up on your soapboxes if you like, but the emotion of leaving your family doesn't really change depending on what you are doing. I'm sure he wishes he didn't say it, but nowhere does he says acting is as hard as being a soldier, but y'all will just go along with this nonsense cause you don't like the man.

It's pretty much a Mission Impossible if Tom thinks he can handle the Risky Business as an Outsider without a Cocktail. Even if he's got All the Right Moves, he'd still need A Few Good Men if he wants to pretend that he could ever be Top Gun. It's more likely he'd be Losin' It and Taps would play him out.
Leave the real mens work to the real men Tom- couches and beards aren't a part of serving our country.

Either he's the biggest moron ever, or somehow the thoughts of what he was trying to purvey in the interview are somehow twisted here. I certainly won't give a final judgement based upon what Perez Hilton reports!

What a tool. Spoiled rotten little tosser . And I mean little…

Re: MewLover34 – IF that is true, he has enough money to pay for his daughter to visit him, or better yet fly back to see her (I would not let a young child travel to that area). My cousin's son served a tour in Iraq and it was nail biting time to see him make it out alive and unharmed.

Congratulations Tom Cruise, you will be eligible to apply for employment with Walmart after your tour of duty.

Poor guy can't win these days! Some thoughts are better left unexpressed!

how dare he say that. our soldiers are sacrificing their lives so he can have the freedom to say these things. As a veteran who HAS fought, I'm appalled that he would actually have the guts to say acting is just as hard as fighting in Afghanistan. It shows a lack of respect for the men and women of this country who've made the ultimate sacrifice so he can be an arrogant asshole.

The snippet is out of context, so it looks damning. He stated something like that on a set, he might have to run 18 or twenty full out sprints but, say, even an Olympic athlete would run two at most in a day. He does have to be incredibly fit for the types of movies he does if he chooses not to use a stunt double at his age, but out of context from the complete article, the comparative analogy to a military man on a tour still isn't a good one and leaves him open to wtf criticism.
