Perez Reviews: Disaster The Musical!

We're not a fan of disaster movies, but we are a big fan of Disaster, a new musical playing off-Broadway that spoofs the film genre.

New York theater snobs may shy away from going to see a show at St. Luke's Theater, and they're missing out! Lovers of fun and lots of tourists went to see the new satire with us on Friday night. And the audience went away extremely entertained!

A jukebox musical featuring songs from the '70s, these tunes are expertly woven in to the brilliantly absurd storyline by show writers Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick.

You may not catch all the references or be familiar with the disaster genre, but you will know and love these songs! And the show!

Disaster is referential and self-aware. Tongue-in-cheek. Cheesy. Camp. And so much fun!

This is not highbrow entertainment, but Disaster isn't trying to be. It just wants to entertain.

And a truly sensational cast of Broadway veterans, like Mary Testa, help the show be anything but a disaster! A real standout is Matt Farcher as the romantic lead. His voice is so beautiful and pure! It impressed us tremendously and we see a big future for him!

Disaster is like the little engine that could!
