By the hammer of Thor!
Chris Hemsworth won this weekend’s box office EASILY with his superhero sequel pulling in more than $86 million in ticket sales!
Some experts were actually predicting that The Dark World would break November box office records, considering how well The Avengers did last year.
But while the norse god destroyed his competition this weekend, beating out Bad Grampa, the four old men in Last Vegas and the turkeys of Free Birds, his lightning and thunder were no match for magic and vampires!
The biggest November opening still belongs to the Twilight saga, which sank its teeth into an average of $140 million for the first weekends of New Moon and BOTH Breaking Dawn flicks!
The 4th, 5th and 6th spots still can’t be claimed by Thor because they’re all Harry Potter flicks!
Even James Bond and Skyfall raked in more ticket sales last November, outselling Thor by more than $2 million dollars!
The Dark World now sits in 9th place on the list of biggest November openings. But we predict it’ll be dropping down even lower very soon!
Hunger Games: Catching Fire has a shot of winning it all when it comes out in theaters on November 22nd!
Think the odds will be in their favor? Or will Bella and Edward continue to reign supreme?
