Nothing against Carrie, for real. It's just sad because the glorious Julie Andrews can no longer sing.

She gets "hate" because there are so many- literally, SO MANY -actresses than can play that specific role of Maria von Trapp. A lot of *Broadway* singers with better voices, and are much more beautiful, and have acted on stage before… that has earned the merit to be compared to Julie Andrews. Carrie Underwood is a talent in her own right. But for this? No. It's like… someone trying to tell the entire story of The Beatles, but using One Direction and having them sing their songs and putting it in this day and age. Could it be good? Possibly, but it will never hold resignation as the root of the original. Whether you're trying to be Julie or not, Carrie. It's the mere fact that you shouldn't have association at all.

She gets a lot of hate because country singers can't sing broadway (here's looking at you, Billy Ray!) and you just can't remake the Sound of Music. It's just…no. Even thinking about a remake should be illegal.

Re: NoOne – Carrie Underwood can sing as well as anyone on broadway. that is total bullshit. I do agree with you on this new trend of re-making classic movies, it sucks.

I really like Carrie - but she didn't seem right for this role. She looks too all-American - especially with the Hollywood teeth. I just didn't buy her as a 1940 Austrian girl.

Has nothing to do with her. It has to do with it's TIME TO STOP REMAKES and leave them as they are and come up with something new. It's not rocket science, just a bunch of movie execs who have no imagination other then remakes.

Why can't they leave the classics ALONE, no remakes!!! and Carrie Underwood are they f… kidding no way Julie Andrews must be spitting!!!

Re: arabellabella – For your information Julie Andrews has endorsed Carrie playing this part. In the future to avoid showing your Ignorance and Stupidity do some checking before you open your mouth. Carrie is the perfect choice .

No offense to Carrie…but…some movies should just be left alone. Surely they have some original storylines they can produce, or have all the ideas dried up in Hollywood and remakes are all they can do.

Andrews is one impossible act to follow. Carrie's brave to even try, cigar or no cigar.
