Paul Walker's Car Was Going 90 MPH In A 45 MPH Speed Zone At Time Of Fatal Crash!

paul walker speeding car accident

This is just so horrible!

While we had thought maybe the car Paul Walker was in wasn't driving dangerously, it seems that is wrong.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's detective Jeff Maag is now revealing that the car driven by Roger Rodas was actually traveling around 90 mph in a 45 mph speed zone!

He said:

"[The driver] was doing well over 45 – [it's] fair to say at least twice that."

After seeing the destruction that occurred after the accident, we don't find it hard to believe that the vehicle was apparently traveling so fast.

There have also been rumors of possible malfunction occurring with the car, which might be revealed in a black box as the detective added:

"It's an exotic car, so it's not built like a normal car. And this one's been burnt and mangled. Porsche seems to think it has one. They put them in all different locations [in the car]. We have to dig for it."

With the box, information like the speed, any problems, and whether or not the men were wearing seatbelts can be revealed.

Stay tuned.

It is not that shocking that he was going 90. It is not an area with a lot of traffic and I have never seen anyone drive less than 60 on that street. I live in the area and unless you actually live there and drive it everyday…you really don't know the circumstances. People assume the area is crowded with cars or something…which its not. And it isn't a crazy twisted street either. It has curves and hills….but the media is making it sound like he was driving incredibly fast on a canyon road or something. Yes, they were speeding…but that is NOT what caused the accident. It just made the accident worse. If you know the area, you would understand. You don't just randomly crash on that part of the street (especially the way they did)…something had to go on with the car.

I don't mean to sound crass but I don't think it would have mattered if they were wearing seat belts or not… It was an accident- It happened, its tragic, and now it's time to move on. People, great people, die in car crashes every day.

According to a law enforcement source, who told NBC News that the L.A. County Sheriff's Department's preliminary assessment is that the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT was traveling at approximately 40 to 45 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone and the driver apparently lost control while rounding a bend, where the speed limit dropped to 15 mph.

Re: Amber – but if they were driving slower, the impact would have been less traumatic…

Re: Sam – Yeah, bs. There's no way in hell a car will look like a crushed tin can if it hit something going 45 MPH.
