OUAT has cast yet another iconic Disney princess, and gurl has a brand new look!

She'll be played by up-and-coming actress Alexandra Metz, whom The Vampire Diaries fans might already know from the spinoff The Originals!

Alexandra may not look like the star of Tangled, but gurl has the major prerequisite for playing the princess- some gorgeous hair!

Uhhhh……I am all for …..getting people of color more roles, but Rapunzel is supposed to have long locks….this girl is black, they don't have long locks. Maybe if it was Ariel or Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. But Rapunzel or Snow White…No.

Re: Mimi the Magnificent – Ummm…some black women have long hair idiot. On top of that, it's a freakin FAIRYTALE. People don't have 20 ft long hair in real life.

I don't see it, I guess mostly because she character of Rapunzel isn't need the role she had has been give to other characters. & The big point of Rapunzel is that she had 20ft of hair, this show is based off the fairy tale, so this is not real life, I think people need to know something before they post. Like 2 of the commenters have obviously not watched the show.

Disney needs to do an even better job with diversity , kids of color in the millions have they're parents take them to see these film but people of color tend to be under represented in these animation films.

Re: Mimi the Magnificent – just because in the storybrooke world she doesn't have long locks doesn't mean she wont in the flashbacks to the enchanted forest, this tells me you haven't been paying attention to the show since the looks in the enchanted forest are different from how they look in storybrooke

Re: Mimi the Magnificent – I'm black, I have long hair, and it isn't a weave. You are a ignorant foolish idiot. I truly feel sorry for you.

Re: Mimi the Magnificent – There are plenty of black women with naturally long hair. There are a lot of them who even have "long locks". If you do a simple google search you will see.

this is dumb considering rapunzel is known for long blonde hair?? I'm a person of color too, and I think this is a bit absurd.

These are stories we grew up with, these characters have a description and a certain look. Rapunzel is supposed to have long blonde hair and light skin. You cannot change it. You would not cast a white person to play MLK, (there would be protests, hunger strikes and toads falling from the sky). Rapunzel is blond and fair skinned and should stay that way, liberals be damned.

Yea, but there is one thing you are missing. MLK jr. is not a FICTIONAL character, he is real. So casting a white person as him would be politically incorrect and going against history. Rapunzel is fictional and even though she started off "white with blonde hair" they have every right to change her to whatever they want.

Re: dbz – lol did you just compare rapunzel and mlk

  15. Joey says – reply to this

Ya I agree with Mimi the Magnificent with adding more variety to princess but the famous words are "Rapunzel, Rapunzel Let down your GOLDEN hair" There are so many princesses without certain necessary looks but then there are many who need to match a certain criteria: Snow White, Jasmine, Mulan, and RAPUNZEL. Lately I've been worried ONCE is getting more about the money then about the stories. For Example, the whole Peter Pan fiasco needs to be rectified quickly afterall the show's contract says the plot is supposed to coexist with the existing tales. Now luckily they havent locked the door behind them with the Peter Pan story and several other plot lines so, that's why I'll keep watching because I know deep down the show will fix these plot flaws and return to the shows true roots of bringing grownups the happiness of children's fairy tales. Now Im not saying they should change Rapunzel at this point. I can live with it. But dont let it happen again
