Once you start negatively dissing a fellow actor/singers performance.. you look like the bigger idiot. It's that simple.

Hmmm. Doesn't sound harsh to me. and 2: Stephen Moyer sucked! I can see why Carrie had a hard time playing opposite him. But I could see people who like over-the-top broadway performers liking him. Laura Benanti was the best, which made it hard to root for Maria at all — they made her too pretty and too likeable.

Re: Bigdawg – So you're saying that performers should never criticize other performances? And when asked if they liked a performance they should always say it was great?

Carrie was fine. its just broadway having a hissy over a country singer being the star. none of them could have pulled in 19 million viewers.

She wasn't asked — she tweeted the information. And yes, I do believe if you don't have anything nice to say.. don't say it at all. Funny how when people are behind a keyboard they say anything…

The part of Maria was poorly cast. I like Carrie Underwood, but she not an actress. She knows that. I think she did her best. They brought in a few Broadway heavyweights to try and make up for it though. They cast Carrie for the ratings pull… hoping people would tune in to see her fail.

Petty Tweeters and bloggers can bash Carrie and this Sound of Music - they are entitled to their own opinions… but clearly they are not shared by many as this was a HUGE success for NBC with 18.5 MILLION VIEWERS - beating a new Big Bang Theory by 3 million people.

Hmmm GaGa with the muppets BOMBS on prime time TV and wholesome Carrie Underwood in the Sound of Music is a smashing success.. sounds like Hollywood and the media should be scared to death they dont understand their audience

Well on account she doesn't have any acting experience thay shoudln't bash her acting. Damn. It's not like Carrie's trying to upstage the original performance.

Karath and Carr are superb actresses. I mean after playing young girls in the SOM on Broadway they went on to star in …?

Gosh, you think they are just a bit jealous of how well THESE kids did in a live TV production?

So Carrie Underwood isn't Julie Andrews. But she was a PERFECT Maria.

SOM was the very first Broadway play I ever saw as a very young child. This live performance brought back all those wonderful memories of me sitting between my Mom and Dad - may they RIP - with my brother and sister next to us too. Sitting in that theater box with my parents was a highlight of my young life. And Carrie Underwood and cast brought that all back to me.

Amazing ratings!!! That's all NBC cares about! Carrie Underwood has nothing to prove. She is an amazing singer and star. An actress she isn't, but her amazing singing voice made this show a joy to watch! I loved it! I think "Greti" should hush…

Didn't enjoy it all although I tried to. Like Carrie Underwood but an actress she is not and everyone else put me to sleep, too!

First….my high school put on the same exact play and there wasn't much difference in the quality. When you have an ICONIC peformance/movie such as The Sound Of Music with Julie Andrews still available to see…….don't even TRY to "cover" it. Your attempt will ALWAYS look bad in comparison. It wasn't worth doing. If you ARE going to be stupid enough to try—please remember—Maria left a CONVENT to come be a governess. Unless I'm mistaken, most , if not all convent require short hair for their novices–at least back then. So Carried comes made up like a damn Barbie doll with flowing locks? Who cares if she can sing or act–she can't even LOOK like Maria!!! lol

Great job done by all that were casted for the Sound of Music LIVE. You can not compare this to the original at all. If this was the first time seeing Sound of Music, I don't think the critics would be so quick to judge. Of coarse, when you compare it to the original you aren't going to like it, simply because no one can compare to the incredible Julie Andrews and her cast and crew, but Carrie Underwood and this cast and crew did an awesome job for a LIVE performance.

I thought the show was great! It was LIVE folks. No cutting room floor. They all did beautifully. Loved the music. Grew up watching live musicals in Oberlin, OH and can appreciate the art.
