This is one of the most unfortunate mistakes we've ever seen!
A billboard was recently erected in Coimbatore, India to celebrate the human rights contributions of the late Nelson Mandela, but they kind of horribly messed up the tribute!
They accidentally used a close-up picture of Morgan Freeman (above)!!!!!
Whoa! We're glad Invictus found international distribution, but this kind of mix-up is bad news bears!
The message, written in the Tamil language, allegedly translates into:
"We should be proud that we were part of an era when they lived."
Well, we suppose that holds Nelson AND Mr. Freeman (who is only 76 and will hopefully live for much, much longer), but that's not the point!
We assume this was an innocent mistake, but it's hard to understand how it happened. The shopkeeper who purchased the billboard intended to celebrate the anti-apartheid hero is actually blaming the designer.
"We will replace it with the correct picture of Mandela."
Hmm, at least they didn't use a picture of Ben Kingsley in place of Gandhi!?
