Mellow and smooth, well produced. I like every one. Got an uptempo feel good jump out of your seat one coming up too?
Those help sell the albums along with the visuals that go with them.

I like some of them, but i still have trouble believing the persona he is putting on. It's not a race thing, it just feels like he is not being who he is. Maybe I am wrong, and look forward to see who he evolves as he gets older.
My favourite song is Backpack and What's Hatnin, but it only really matters what the majority wants, so my opinion is meaningless.

Here is a review of Journals by the reputable Washington Post that is pretty spot on:

The best R&B album released in 2013. So glad that Justin is gaining acceptance among R&B & hip hop listeners and has made new mature fans. Justin Bieber isn't making the same kind of music he did when he was 15 yrs old anymore, and now is making music for mature audiences.

Re: WhatHatnin – That review was a joke, and reading some of the comments from readers it's apparent that even the readers think that the reviewer is a hater of Justin's. He has received for the most part excellent reviews, in fact the best of his career for all the singles off his new album. As well as gaining more adult fans.

This comment is not just for Bieber but for all the 5 musicians left.

What's important is the quality of the music - I like how all the 5 voices (and we are down to five - see below) are auto tuned to robot levels, and the backup musicians sound like they are playing a karaoke track - that's what rock and roll has always been about., a lack of honesty and lots of playing it safe… Well hasn't it?

Music and the music business, has been reduced to 5. These 5 get more media attention than all the other musicians in the world, combined. Corporate music has marginalize the best of the rest into footnotes :Beyonce, Beiber, Gaga, Perry, or Swift.

Never in history have 5 musicians got more press than all the rest. Never in history have the music business been mostly 3 companies (Universal, Warners, Sony). Never in history has the major media companies owned the music companies too.

It looks like the Biebs has announced his retirement.
Wish him the best. This was a smart move given the damage he may do to his brand with his improbable music crossover.
I hope he makes something out of his life with what he has built, and wish him the best of luck. He has earned some respect from me today, by showing he knows when to leave on a high, understanding what his success what built upon, and knowing when to change course. Not easy to do what he did at all (and i'm very surprised he had the perspective and self awareness to do this at 19), most people would have kept going and ruined themselves trying to capture something that was improbable because of ego and the like.
I look forward to seeing what the Biebs does with his brand over the next 10 years and the businessman he becomes. Biebs has build a decent brand there, so maybe he can follow in the footsteps of Jessica Simpson, or The Olsen Twins, with a bit of education and some help.

Folk rock followers around the world are celebrating the arrival of their favorite musical genius from the 70's into the digital arena. Shep Cooke has just released the digital versions of his first two solo music albums. The two albums, entitled 'Shep Cooke' and 'Concert Tour of Mars', are now available at Amazon.com, iTunes, and all other popular online music shops. The CDs of these two albums can also be purchased from Shep Cooke's official website . This website has recently been revamped with the addition of several music videos, photographs, and information covering the four decade long musical career of Shep Cooke.
